KIDS' favourite THE WOMBLES may reform - to play at Glastonbury festival this summer.

GREAT UNCLE BULGARIA and his gang had a string of Top Ten hits in the 1970s before they split in 1976.

MIKE BATT wrote the music for the recyclers who lived on Wimbledon Common.

Now the band are in discussion with festival organisers to take a coveted Sunday afternoon slot on the Pyramid stage.

Previous veterans on the same shift include ROLF HARRIS and DAME SHIRLEY BASSEY.

A source said: "Discussions have been opened about The Wombles playing Glastonbury.

"They're certainly keen to be there."
