Default Woman goes into labour at Glasto, then returns to finish festival with new born baby!
I think I would have given up on Glasto and gone home.

Quote:
A FESTIVAL-GOER who went into labour at Glastonbury returned to the event a day later with her newborn baby.

Little Oscar James Butterworth was delivered at nearby Yeovil Hospital on Friday, after mum Kristy started having contractions in their tent earlier in the day.

After the birth, and daunted by a 236-mile drive home to Penmaenmawr, the family took 7lb 4oz Oscar back to Glastonbury in time to see headliners Muse play their hit New Born.

Water technician Kristy, 30, told the Daily Post how the drama unfolded. “I didn’t feel very well that morning. I realised I was in labour so Andy (her partner) woke my mum and got the campsite stewards.

“The site ambulance took me to the next field to the medical centre. It’s just a marquee with a few beds. There were a few ill people there from the night before.

“There was an anaesthetist and a GP. They were panicking a bit and getting ready to deliver the baby. I thought: ‘I don’t want to have my baby here’ – I could have been in full view of other people.

“But I couldn’t fault the medical staff at Glastonbury. They were brilliant.”

Kristy added: “It was the lesser of two evils to stay. It would have been such a long drive with a newborn baby. We had a cool, canvas shelter. It was lovely with a breeze blowing and we put the baby on a cotton sheet. There was an off-duty midwife three tents along. She was there to give a talk about midwifery and she kept popping in.”

But Oscar was unimpressed by his parents’ favourite band, Muse, that night. Kristy, who also has children Lewis, 11, and two-year-old Lola, said: “It was the one band we really wanted to see but Oscar slept right through it. He didn’t murmur at all.

“I couldn’t believe it when one of the first songs they played was New Born. I had goose pimples and was almost crying.”

Dad Andy, 25, added: “It was so hot that the journey back to Glastonbury was preferable to the long trip home. We’ve been to Glastonbury four times. Lola is three in August, so this was her fourth Glastonbury – if you count being in her mum’s belly the first time.”

They returned home from Somerset on Monday to Penmaenmawr and met the rest of the family.

I think I would have refused to leave the site and given birth at the Stone Circle. Then called the baby Eavis. Or Pilton.

All of which was nothing compared to the surprise one couple from Lincolnshire received when they became parents during the festival.
Victoria Iremonger, 30, wasn't expecting to give birth to her son until 11 July, but baby Reuben had other ideas and made an early escape from the womb shortly after Glastonbury's gates opened.
When her waters broke on Wednesday, Iremonger begged festival medics to let her stay on site for the birth, but they insisted on sending her to nearby Yeovil hospital, where Reuben was born at 7.30pm on Thursday. The family all returned to the festival the next day.
She said giving birth to her first child at Glastonbury was "amazing". "I was just starting to enjoy myself at Glastonbury when my waters broke and I realised the baby was coming," she said.
"I never expected this to happen but it is a great start to the festival. It has really made my weekend. Reuben is a very happy camper and seems to be enjoying his first Glastonbury. I'm a bit of a hippy at heart and I've been coming here for 12 years, so this is amazing. It's like a dream."
