I think im doing the same as last year, getting there a day early (tues) and sleeping in the que. bit of a crap night sleep but last year me and my mate started the que (gate A i think it was), and although afew people got infront of us we were one of the first people into the festival, was ideal because we could set up camp and keep a nice bit of space for our friends who were arriving abit later

I can't go until Thursday this year because of big pants work not allowing me more than two days off.

Hubby is going down with our friends on the Tuesday night and will set up camp (Weds AM of course), I will train down on Thursday and swan in without a single piece of luggage.

Nelly that sounds like you have it sweet, the dreaded walking from the car carrying the mountain of stuff is not something im looking forward to. Its most likely because im a man and im just pig ignorant and want to carry everything at once, who wants to go back to the car again!

So yeah we are leaving Belfast about 10:30/11pm on the Tuesday night (im the lucky driver), getting the boat from Dublin (02:15) to Holyhead, then getting down to Glasto as quickly as possible, parking the car (hopefully not have to queue for to long). Drinking as much beer as I can with the ability to still walk, that way I will have super human strength to carry all the gear (thats my excuse). Get into the festival at some stage, and spend a few hours as me and my drunken friends attempt to build the tent, and hopefully end up chatting to all our new neighbours and asking them nicely to help us out! Well thats the plan anyways

We are heading off from London at about 2am on the Wednesday morning, so should arrive within a few hours, party in the carpark, then join in the queue!

Last year it was absolutely great in the carpark, we arrived about 3am I think; people were playing music from their car stereos, everyone was chatting to everyone else, and of course some major drinking was occurin' - the festival really does start a day earlier now you can arrive on the Tuesday night!

We're arriving Wednesday. Coach leaves Brighton at 5.15am, gets to Victoria at 7am, will probably be a huge bun fight to get on the connecting coach & in theory we'll arrive at 11.30am but we shall see.....

Boo Hoo! Can never leave until Thursday afternoon! (And have to pull a sickie for Friday!) That's the downside to working in a school!! and before you mention the long hols, I'm not a teacher so don't get paid for the long holidays! Finish work at 3.30 and straight in that car!! Thank God I have family pitching on Weds!! Still have a huge rucksack etc to lug down that friggin' hill!! Cannot wait!

Last year planned to go down on Tues night, but ended going early on Weds and got stuck in the traffic for quite a few hours. Not good. So think I'll be setting off around 9-10ish Tues night from Cumbria to arrive early morning at the big G.

For you guys who went down early last year, what was it like, good banter? Was there long traffic queues, was it pretty busy? I'm preparing myself for the worst so I won't be disappointed by the mass of people at the entry gates!

We've taken the whole week off work, so will pack on Monday and then head down on Tuesday, perhaps do a bit of sightseeing (I went to school in Somerset so might look around some old haunts) and then head for the site to get there when the car parks open.

We got there at about midnight last year and the atmosphere was wonderful! Didn't get anything in the way of sleep though (which we kind of forgot about until we realised in the early hours of Thursday morning that we hadn't slept since Tuesday... with all that led to...)

On Monday we got up late, scrounged some discarded chairs (it still shocks me how much usable stuff is left behind) and sat back and relaxed. Think we left at about 4.00. And I always, always take the Tuesday off work too!

I am on a Crew Coach and will be rolling onsite Tuesday around 2/3 pm and by good fortune the Coach drops us at the entrance to the crew camp so there is no carrying of camping gear for miles and by 3.30 pm will be all set up and on a wander to see what crew parties are on the go { I already have a invite to two } - although there is more people about than you would imagine its still empty compared to what it will be like 24 hours later.

This year will be different than last year as I am working at London Feis Saturday/Sunday so it means trying to rest on the Monday and then getting myself into gear to catch the Coach the next day and then a few days after Glasto its repeating it all again to work at Hop Farm so June is going to be a very busy month.

Getting a coach for the first time this year. Leaves Brighton at 5.15 am on Wednesday and arrives 11.30. Few hours late but straight to Gate A and no parking so hoping it might be easy. We'll see. Hopefully a nice hot Green Traveller shower will make up for the later start!

Last two years we took the train down from Edinburgh to Bristol on the Tuesday, then coach to Wells, where there is an absolutely delightful pub with a beer garden (cider garden, perhaps - there are apple trees) and excellent food. Meal there, then on to a very nice camp site in North Wootton for sunset. Up not long after sunrise, and start walking towards the festival..... Both times we've only walked about half an hour before we got a lift.

This year, with just me, I'm torn: I could stick to the mixture as before, or I could try and do the Stonehenge thing (except I know you can't bring camping stuff into the solstice access area).

And I wonder: does public transport for all but the last five miles or so count for Green Travellling?

Last year left Cornwall at midday Wednesday, watched footie in a pub just outside Pilton and then drove straight in, parked up and had tent pitched by 6pm ish. Easiest journey I've ever had getting onto festival site so might try that again this year.

this is my first time, and we're already planned. Leaving sheffield tuesday afternoon, staying in a hotel just outside of bristol tuesday evening, get up at the crack of dawn wednesday and head straight to glasto! woooop! Some friends of ours did that last year, but they were leaving from county durham, their going again this year so we are tagging along. I did fancy the party in the car park, but, im too soft and the thought of a comfy bed and a shower before 5 days of camping was too tempting!

eeeeeeek not long now!!

We're staying in Bournemouth Tuesday night, then getting the first train out, should arrive in Castle Cary at 10am.

So fingers crossed it's not too busy, last year we arrived at the same time, the queue for the shuttle bus was horrific, everyone was pushing in and being impatient which didn't help at all in that heat. The marshall saw us being pushed back by a large group of guys and she called us forward and put us on the next shuttle bus When we got to the gates, the queue wasn't too bad, we got through reasonably quickly and got considerably lost on the other side of the gate cause it was our first year

Going through on Wednesday at 7.30 on the coach from Brum. Should get there about 10.30 or so.
Anyone have any ideas of queuing times about then for Gate A?

Stress, bad back, toothache, glastoitis (the doc may not have heard of this one so tell him/her they're never too old to learn )

And unless you go in disguise, dont be at the front of any of the main stages or you WILL be on television.
