DONT EVER think of leaving stuff there! It's one sure fire way of getting lots and lots of peoples backs up. They have such a mammoth task to clean up after "disposable" festival goes, its unfair and its unnecassary
Love the farm, leave no trace....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3SfudidbwM

Now you've had the don'ts......
...... Three man tents are ideal & give you plenty of room, should you ... er..... pull!
Many are available and under £50, easy to put up and light enough not to have to worry about carrying. You could also possibly checkout the Millets buy & collect service, then you can carry beer there instead and have space to carry the tent back! Almost all tents you'll find, have a review for them on Amazon.
Whatever you do, don't buy the cheapest, they don't tend to be very sturdy or waterproof. Tesco currently have a line of very cheap tents that I wouldn't house someone elses dog in!

I would recommend minimum 2 man, but personally I prefer a 3 man even when there's only me in it. Then you can spread out for sleeping and still have plenty of room for your gear without being cramped.

I have a 3 *person* tent for myself, just enough space for my bed, my shiz and a little space to move around.
My recommendations are that you get a double skin tent with a porch so you have somewhere to put muddy boots outside your sleeping area. Don't go for the cheapest, but you can get some good bargains in places like Go Outdoors and Decathlon. Another thing to check is the HH or hydrostatic head, 1500 is the least you should go for, the higher the number the more waterproof they are.

Went on my own in 2008 and needed a new tent so bought a very waterproof, very light and very easy to put up tent.
It's also very, very small - just room for me and my rucksack. Snug.
2009 I took all the same stuff... plus Lou. A little too snug to be honest. See the related tale of our first night in the Rookie Mistakes thread
Moral: buy a two or three man tent
We now take two tents, one for us, one for our gear. Not ideal, but this year we intend to do what we're kicking ourselves for not doing last year. We left at around 4.00pm on the Monday and it is astounding how much perfectly good kit people leave behind. It's not just the cheap Tesco £10 tents either, there were plenty of 8 man £200-300 tents left abandoned. We intend to adopt one this year! Of course, if they've had 8 people in them for that weekend we might not find one we want straight away... Took a look in a couple and ...

lol You'll find lots of people 'Wombling' from Monday lunchtimes onwards. If you do this, make sure you leave someone with your stuff so that it doesn't get 'wombled' whilst your backs are turned.
If tents are still zipped up you may want to wait until after the security/police sweep of the field. Unless you wish to take the risk of finding someone in it, not happy about being disturbed, or worse! Most abandoned tents are left with doors unzipped. But also you do have to make a decision if a tent has been left on purpose, or it's occupants are coming back for it, if the latter....
Wombling prospects will be very weather dependant, the better the weather the less stuff is left and the number of wombles increases.
Friends of mine brought me a 40pint barrel of some very nice scrumpy back the other year! But they did insist it was me that had to be the 'cider expert' and taste test it!!!
Making good use of the things that you find.....

This is the tent I recently bought for myself...
http://www.millets.co.uk/camping/ten...-lt-grn-0.html
Half price at £30 - I know itll work as its exactly the same one my friend has had for about 4 years and his is still going strong and still waterproof, nice size and decent sized porch to keep stuff in
Last year I stayed in a cheapo Tesco tent that I bought off my friend for a fiver - thank God it was dry is all I can say on that one, slightest bit of rain and I think I would have been drenched...

That is a proper bargain, especially if you get the offers at the bottom of the page, sleeping bag, airbed and rollmat for another £16!

I'm fairly certain that's the one I bought my daughter last year. She's very happy with it.

what ever it is make sure it's light (you have to carry it and lots of other things a long way!) and waterproof, you probably wont spend much time in it, so it doesn't have to be huge or anything special!
