Default What shouldn't I miss?
This year i will be working running a rodeo bull on the circus field on Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 12 and 7pm.

I went last year but because it was all a bit last minute i couldnt get the time off work and didnt arrive until the Friday morning, i tended to stick to the headliners and didnt really explore the sights and sounds.

This year i've booked the full week off work and am planning on heading down on the Wednesday morning and staying until the Monday.

I really want to make the most of my limited time there and dont need a lot of sleep so am up for seeing more of the later night glasto! Is there anything that really shouldnt be missed? Just looking for a bit of advice.

Thanks Guys

Nic

Make sure you skip the headliners on at least one evening so you can be in Arcadia before midnight for the Arcadia Spectacular show. Always great for WOW Factor!

Then go and explore the little back alleys of Shangri-La. Full of new surprises every year.

DX courier for you ticket only joking

Arcadia and trash city are a must. If you don't go for a wander you will miss out on some of the best sights in your life. Music isn't everything

We have want to see sunrise at stone circle. We usually have the kids with us so havn't been able to do it but hell yes its on our (getting longer by the day) list of things we want to do.
Had such a great day in work today even though it was the 2nd 11hr shift in 2 days. My nephew has never been before and he is delighted with the line up!

Sunrise at Glastonbury is truly magical. Maybe I should say sunrises ARE magical after seeing two of them last year, what an old hippie I am. I prefer the hill behind the Park to the Stone Circle, but each to their own.

I would say that it's not so much what shouldn't you miss as what do you really really want to see. Have a flick through the programme and pick one or maybe two things per day and then just go with the flow for the rest of the time. I really recommend that you explore more of the site than just the main stages though, there is so much more to see and do.

I agree with mmmmmmcider. Last year was my first Glasters and I just wandered aimlessly and came across some interesting sights. Naked wood turning being my favourite.

Totally agree with the don't make any plans plan. Or more precisely, choose as little as possible, go with the flow, go for a wander on your own and explore any little nooks and crannies you spot. There are little spaces between the trees on the railway track that can take you to another world, weird and wonderful things to see, and amazing talents to discover. The big stages are less than 5% of the Glasto experience. Try something you wouldn't normally try, whether it's in the healing fields, or different food, or a show or band you wouldn't normally be interested in, you just don't know what you will discover, and that's the beauty of the festival.

some of the workshops in the healing fields are fantastic, we made some stoneage type axes one year, still great orniments and the kids took them to school to show off. Think I want to try glass blowing this year.

I still haven't tried any of the workshops, do they tend to be expensive?

we went in 2009 and it was 7 or 8 quid for 90 min or so. It was raining and it was worth it just to sit somewhere dry and comfy lol. We had to book though so only book if you are sure you will be in a fit state to do it!

I like the sound of that, we didn't get involved in anything crafty last year but would love to do something. I love the healing fields too (being a healer myself).

A friend we were with last year went wandering during the headline acts and saw a very different side of Glastonbury. Fancy that myself this year.

I would say pick a few of the acts that are must see for you and get yourself there in plenty of time. The ideal situation is if there are a few on the same stage one after the other so you can just stay in one place and enjoy them all. Getting from place to place takes infinitely longer than you ever think, especially if it's muddy. I saw loads of great acts on Friday last year and then didn't really bother with the main stages again much. Unless you're really really really into the music and whoever happens to be on, I'd totally agree that you shouldn't spend too much time at the main stages. There is sooooo much other stuff going on elsewhere. I only saw ONE act the first year I went and still had the best time of my life! Having said that, watching someone you love (like Rolf) at Pyramid with another 200,000 or so people is an experience you don't forget in a hurry. So decide on who you MUST see, go, enjoy, then just go with the flow for the rest of the time.

Personally I love the Healing Fields. It's a great place to chill out and re-align your chi or whatever during the day. At night it's still a pretty cool place and the fire pit is one of my fave places at Glasto.

You should definitely get up to the Stone Circle at least once at night. I missed that the first year and last year all I could say was "this is mental, why did no-one tell me about it earlier?" !!! I howled at the full moon standing on the stones

I also love the Water Aid toilets at the bottom of that field, my fave bogs in Glasto! A nice toilet experience at Glasto is not something to be sniffed at!
