I've often done this in the past although others tell stories of being shepherded into the East carparks so best advice would be not to put your carpark sticker on the windscreen until you are close to the carparks you want to be in.

The A361 from Shepton will almost certainly bring you into the East Car Park. If you're coming down the A37 from Bristol towards Shepton, I'd turn down the A39 at Farringdon Gurney straight through Wells and pick up the A361 at Glastonbury. That'll bring you straight into the West Car Park. Alternatively, come down the M5, off at Jtn 23 onto the A39, again to pick up the A361 at Glastonbury (our route every year).

This is the one time of year I actually know what I'm talking about... I should bottle it for the rest of the year...

Depends on the time, I think.

Last year we wanted to be in the west car park, but were coming in from Essex. From the A303 we headed for Frome and then Shepton Mallet, coming in on the A361. Our intention was to follow the 361 through Pilton to the west side.

We fully expected to get stopped from going through Pilton and to get shepherded down the A37 to the east parks from the A361. But - lo and behold - no traffic and no traffic controls.

This was at about 1130 on Tuesday night - it might be different at other times. We're planning the same this year, albeit arriving a bit earlier.

Funny I was just harping on to Mr Nelly about getting herded into the wrong car park, I imagine the traffic control is more for the Wednesday than Tuesday night.

You're probably right.

I was amazed at how little festival traffic there was coming in from Shepton Mallet - we were literally the only car on the road, all the way to the east car park gate.

I guess most people coming in from the east will keep on the 303 until Wincanton will therefore be approaching from the south east.

Shhh! Keep it a secret!
