I'll be avoiding them like the plague!! But I did go and see Michael Eavis give a talk on Monday evening and he said something about how some strange structures had appeared around the Pyramid, which he was told by the stage manager are something to do with U2’s show. They are apparently paying for all this themselves which I guess is admirable but I’m still going to Say No To Bono!

After Morrissey, it's Caribou and Crystal Castles at the Park for me (seen Primal Scream before with annoying ex girlfriend- bad memories).

I find Bono annoying but I don't hate him, I just don't really like their music that much. The tune that Muse covered last year is ok.

I'll be there, Morrissey then U2, excellent evening - i know they are not for everyone and Bono's views are hard work, but the music is pretty darn good. Hopefully with everyone saying they are not going will give me a fine old view.

i can understand the coments about bono being a little bit up his own arse..but i seen them a couple of years ago in dublin and they blew me away..i guess my irish heritage helps thoe..iam glad he speaks his mind about sum of the more impotant issues instead of just taking the money and running..any way whatever different stages were at we all will have a blast!x

Without a shadow of a doubt I'll be there. Wish it wasn't clashing with Primal Scream and Crystal Castles, but I would go see U2 over pretty much anything. They are incredible live and really put on a show to boot.

Yeah Bono comes out with a lot of shit etc but he's certainly not alone there as far as the super-rich go is he?!

I can honestly say if you haven't seen them live and sample it, I'd be surprised if you weren't impressed.

But hey ho, each to their own. I think McCartney is bland live for example, regardless of the tunes.

One of those 'bands you have to see live' methinks. Not a big fan but they've got a few good tracks & as far as i've read it's gonna be more of a greatest hits show than the set list of their current tour. Besides, in my humble opinion, it's the only headline set at the Pyramid worth seeing. Should be a good Friday there with Wu Tang, BB King, Biffy, Ol' moany puss & U2 (gonna go to The Park for special guests instead of Morrissey even tho I do like him.)

Never mind, 3 Nightshifts to go after tonight then 'GLASTONBURY WOOP WOOP!!

Yeah, we'll be there. We're not the biggest U2 fans in the world, but they are awesome live. As for Bono, yeah, well... But then if we didn't see bands because the lead singer was a bit of an arse we'd only be able to go to Elbow gigs.

Which isn't a bad thing of course...

This will be one moment in later life when the question gets asked.. "can you remember U2 at Glastonbury? they were great" then I reply "I was there" its a bit like the Michael Jackson thing.. "Remember when Wacko Jacko died?" answer "Yes, I was at Glasto soaking wet, drinking red wine with a market trader!"

Answer to this question - I'll be there, once in a life time opportunity

I was lucky enough to see them in the Marquee (Wardour Street) as a mates sister at school knew people who worked there and they were blinding-was about 15 at the time so would have been about 1981-shit i'm getting old

I'm gonna see them. I only know of their more popular songs but I think it will be a good show and one I may regret not going to.

Plus I can't stand Coldplay and I'm not fantastically enthusiastic about Beyonce (Although I know I'll end up seeing her because my friend will refuse to go alone..) so would be good to see U2 as a headliner.

No animosity between the bands. You can find dozens of quotes from Chris Martin talking about how much he admires U2, e.g. this piece he wrote about U2 for Rolling Stone: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/li...31/u2-19691231

And in reverse, U2 do seem to think quite a bit of Coldplay, and the bands are friends. The "Chris Martin Is A Wanker" t-shirts you saw wouldn't have been official merchandise. Fan made, I guess. Bono did say that (Martin is a wanker) but it came at the end of a long rant about how great a songwriter he thought Martin was. Clearly a joke, like saying "Johnny Depp is an amazing actor, pity he's ugly."

Between fans there can be a bit of animosity. Lots of crossover between the fanbases obviously, but a lot of U2 fans really hate it whenever someone lumps Coldplay and U2 together as 'similar'.

If you catch them both next weekend you'll see how dramatically different they actually are. I won't be. U2 for me on Friday, but the Chemical Brothers are the easy winner on Saturday.
