Last year I left at 4 o'clock on Wednesday morning, arriving before the gates opened, which seemed to work well (I got in before some of those who'd turned up the evening before and slept in their cars overnight!) so I'm planning to do the same again. Leaving 2/3am Monday morning (i.e. after the bands finish plus an hour or so to allow the initial rush to subside).
Travelling up from Torquay so can pick up here or anywhere in between.

Hi, I dont need a lift however how did you get past the people that arrived the night before? Is it a disadvantage to get there on tues night ? cheers Jaya

We went in through different gates and they let our gate in pretty much straight away while the people who'd been there all night had to queue up all Wednesday morning and didn't get in until noon, so it was definitely a disadvantage getting there on Tuesday evening last year. Whether that'll change this year I don't know - I intend travelling up on Wednesday morning again (plus the Tuesday is my birthday and I don't want to spend the evening sat in a car!)

The last two years we came down from Edinburgh by train on the Tuesday and camped overnight at a nearby campsite, managing to get a lift to the festival the next morning.

The first time we got a lift to near gate A and got straight in with minimal queueing, but the second time we got a lift to the west side of the festival - afraid I can't remember which gate we got in, but we had to queue for most of the morning with folk who'd parked over the night before....

I don't know how much of the difference was due to the gate and how much due to the numbers parked up overnight
