Default Train Tickets
Hi, I cant drive and I would really like to get to glastonbury as early as possible on wednesday. Does anyone know a place where I can buy cheap rail tickets? I looked at the one that the glastonbury website suggests but they only leave from london on thursday evening! If anyone has any advice, that would be great!

Looking at thetrainline.com, there are still cheap tickets from London to Castle Cary and Bristol on the Tuesday, if that's any use (there are a few campsites near the festival site that may have pitches left).

Tbh I just went to the train station and asked them to, as cheaply as possible, give me a price. We all have student railcards, and we're staying overnight in Bournemouth on the Tuesday.

So for tickets from Hastings - Bournemouth, month return. And Bournemouth to Castle Cary, month return, it came to £33.

Perfect

I know a friend of a friend who lends his railcard to his friends. It doesnt have a photo on it and I know when I use my family railcard I have never been asked to show it! Maybe you know a friend of a friend who has a rail card and they will let you use it! It makes a massive difference.

If your prepared to take the time searching it sometimes pays to get single tickets for different parts of the journey. Going from Sheffield to Taunton and back I have 12 tickets but its saved me a fortune!

If you're coming from London, maybe you'd like to try something like Paddington - Reading and Reading - Castle Cary for example. If you're prepared to go on slower trains that may help too. Also I'm sure you've probably heard it before but try to avoid peak times and if you can, book tickets as far in advance as possible.

Good luck.

P.S. It may help you to know that First Great Western will post your tickets for free if you opt to book tickets over the internet. It'll save you a pound at least.
