Default thinking of taking the kids next year, any suggestions?
Thinking of taking the kids, any suggestions? Chris aged 7 and Alex aged 9. How do people cope, is it stressfull? Is it worth it? I really enjoyed the festival this year but kept thinking that bringing the family would be really cool. Worried about the toilets ( for the kids) but the atmosphere was incredible ... saw no trouble, just loads of great people having a great time! basically, how do you go about it?

Stinkywitch will no doubt be along shortly to answer any questions you have about taking kids, but in the mean time read http://forum.glastowatch.co.uk/takin...h-us-t130.html which should answer most of your questions.

Our fist visit this year, took kids 9 and 11, no problems really other than the heat which made them more irritable and less willing to stand around and listen to bands than they otherwise might have been. Had been worried about possibly losing them in crowds but that wasn't an issue, just had to hold their hands getting through one or two busy areas. Get yourself in the family camping which has gate stewards, we were in Wicket Ground, lots of space, not overly noisy either, could hear music from John Peel and Pyramid in background. Plenty of entertainment in the Kidz and Green Kidz fields for them too. Portaloos were a bit smelly but were cleaned fairly often, anyway the kids coped with them admirably, even for number twos. Our view was it was worth taking them for free before they are of the age when you have to pay for them!

I'm thinking of taking 2 of mine, aged 13 and 10 next year...stupid questions..do we need a ticket for the 10 year old?? Or do we turn up with ID and she gets in free??

How do we go about getting family camping?? Do we ask at the gate? Or just turn up with the kids???

I've been the last 2 years (without wife and kids) and not really taken much notice of how the family camping works..and i can see absolutely no reason why i shouldn't take the kids!!

Cool
we have taken the kids 4 times now, had to pay for the eldest this yr (he now 13 ) Grrrrr you pay the same as an adult and he didnt get a wrist band or program BIG grip for him and me tbh

next year (tickets permitting) were leaving them at home they will have exams an that

there are two family camping fields and depending which part of the country your coming from, head towards the closeest ( i never could spell)
we have stayed in both and there both good, with people on the gates 24/7. All you need to get in is a child . cockmeadow is closest to the kids field, are 13 yr old did seem abit old for it this yr ( but did learn to play a guitar ) but the 11 yr old still loves it there

our kids are, billy almost 14 and breeze 11, they do not get on at all. they fight over who sets the table, who forgot to put the loo seat down, whos turn it is to put the bin out........if any holiday will get your kids to connect then its glastonbury. the pic is of my emo son who only ever wears black and is only a month or so away from asking me to buy him eyeliner, he is wearing a tutu and his sister had done him a full aunt sally make over that morning, she is teaching him how to play patta cake patta cake.

thanks for all the replies. just come back from the annual holiday in devon. been pushing the glastonbury trip for next year. 50% of the time the kids wanted to kill each other, chris was having tantrums every couple of hours and alex developed a seagull phobia. the rest of the time it was good and the weather, while not as good as Glastonbury was still forgiving!
