Stolen Ticket, is there anything I can do?
Hello,
I have had an absolute shocker and someone has stolen my Glastonbury ticket from my drawer at work. Obviously I thought this was completely safe so left it there and we're now in the process of trying to catch the thief by looking at CCTV footage.
The problem is that Seetickets have said there is nothing I can do and I can't go to the festival. I am absolutely gutted, I have been waiting for this all year.
Does anybody know of anything I can do. I've tried emailing Glastonbury themselves and still haven't have a response. I have all the ticket details and proof of purchase.
If anyone has any idea what I can do I'd be eternally grateful.
Thanks
Joe

Think you've already done what you can really, God you must be furious as well as gutted! Hope they catch the thieving b****rd before the 22nd! Just a thought- is it worth contacting ebay in case someone tries to sell it through them? It'llget cancelled if they do though.

Why can't Seetickets issue you with a duplicate?Your ticket is no use to anyone else cos of the photo-surely this sort of thing has happened before-what happens if someone genuinely loses their ticket or it gets accidently destroyed?

Thanks, I have been getting friends to answer ads for tickets to find out if my ticket is being sold somewhere. The reason Seetickets and Glastonbury won't let me in is because they say someone could sstill use the ticket to get in which kind of makes that whole registration and photo business seem a bit of a waste of time!
I suppose they have to have a strict policy to avoid overcrowding but that doesn't help me much. I'm not giving up yet though.

Officially any tickets that are lost or stolen can't be replaced so it's not surprising that is the line that See Tickets are taking. However all is not lost and a personal email to Dick Vernon (Manager at the festival office) may do the trick. Give it a go & Fingers X'd

Haha, yeah I have tried tweeting Emily Eavis!! No reply, I reckon she might be busy.
The team I work with is quite small, I'm considering involving the police but they'll probably just take the details and give me a crime number. Still waiting for security to go through the CCTV etc

Yeah, will do that once I see what they guy from security has got on film. Seetickets won't help me at all though, they just said no re-issues at all. Hopefully I can use the crime number if I get in contact with someone at the festival itself.

Yes, it looks like involving the police will be a good idea. I contacted Gumtree and asked them to let me know of any adverts selling male glastonbury tickets. They said only the police can request that sort of info so I'm going to go down the police station and report it.
How ironic, the police used to be the ones keeping people out of Glastonbury...

Would deffo involve the police, if you get a shifty response from security then you mayt well have your answer.

I'm gutted to hear this - wonder what I would feel like in that situation, get a headache only thinking about it. Don't ever give up! There's something wrong with the festival office if you fight your way to get support from the video, the police + all the e-mails from your purchase and your registration. I'm sure they get a lot of inquieries from people who have lost their ticket, but give as much evidence as possible and be sure to be a real pain in the ass for all important people involved and you can't be missed. Don't stop tweeting both @glastofest or @emilyeavis either, until you get a response. One thing I know for sure is that I'd start armageddon if I was in your situation, in fact, I'm almost tempted to start one for you. All good luck in the world for you!

Once the police are involved and the theft is official, contact the guardian or the sun newspapers, they love a story like that. ...its very wrong that you can pay a lot of money for a ticket with photographic evidence on it and NOT be able to replace it if it is 100% genuinely stolen !

I think this publicity thing could work for you. Try and get yourself on your local BBC station or watchdog or the One show . If u could manage this, someone somewhere might come up with a ticket for you. Hope so anyway.

Had a really snooty email back from Glastonbury. One line just quoting their terms and conditions. Will try some of the above suggestions but I fear time is against me with regard to contacting the media. It's only sending an email I guess so probably worth it.
Going to speak to our legal department at work. I think Glastonbury are in the wrong for not offering me any help. For a contract to be valid under UK Law both parties have to offer ample consideration (something of value), I do not feel a piece of paper with my picture on it satisfies this. I don't think the terms and conditions can overide this fact but I need to check with someone more qualified first.
Still trying...

The Police is the only way to go with this in my eyes mate, get a crime number then start kicking off.. post on all forums possible. The skank that nicked it in the first place will panic most likely and the ticket will suddenly appear again.. I'm not one for the old bill but in this case they need to be called..

Glimmer of hope...
I have to wait for the police to call me back to get a crime number. I have already reported via their telephone service. I hope they get back to me quickly.
Got a glimmer of hope as glastonbury just emailed me to ask them to provide them with a crime number and the number of the PC who gave it to me. They said they would need to ascertain whether a crime had been committed.
My only fear is that the police and my security guy will not have time to investigate the whole thing in time. Hopefully the crime number will be enough.

Sounds to me that glasto are just sounding out if you are trying to blag a spare ticket to give to your mate/brother/dog who looks like you.
A crime ref and a quick chat with a bobby assigned to the case will probably ease their fears and might lead to a re-issue.

This is theft in the work place, why isn't your gaffer jumping all over it and as I say its theft, it should be security priority as its happened under their noses.. I know for a fact that if this happened in my workplace there would be a full scale investigation.. to me they've taken longer than they should have done already.. If your boss isn't doing anything then escalate the matter even higher!!

I don't think you should contact Emily Eavis over this to be honest, her baby is due this weekend and I think she will be busy with lots of other bits and pieces. By all means hassle everybody and anybody but I think she should be kept out of it. Just my opinion.

I remember one of the last couple of festivals there was a little tent next to the entrance and they were directing people who hadn't received their ticket to there. Assuming that wasn't a one-off, surely that must mean they have the facilities to check if you genuinely bought a ticket or not??
Disclaimer - I'm usually a bit battered by the time I get to the gate, so apologies if I dreamed the whole thing up...

They have been brilliant, including the security guys. They have been trying but there is so much footage to go through and the cameras aren't exactly HD.

have been following tis since you first post, and am totally gutted for you. But I agree, all is not lost. A few years ago Seetickets made a cock up with a freinds ticket order, effectively leaving him without a valid ticket.(He had a ticket but not in his name) On reporting this to Seetickets, instead of just changing the details (it was their mistake) they cancelled the ticket, leaving my mate without a ticket. To cut a long story short, he drove down to the festival site on the Monday before the festival and camped out there until someone listened to his story. In the first few days he only managed to speak to various security personnel, but he persevered and eventually his plight got to the festival office, and ME personally granted him admission to the festival.
I really hope your problem can be resolved. I can't imagine the trauma of sitting at home watching it on TV knowing you had a ticket. Good luck

Don't know if this helps at all but last year my friend lost her paper ticket that you need to get in and out of the site when you're in the camper van fields. She still had the wrist band but had lost the paper bit in a drunken stoned stupor the night before. Which was ironic because we thought I'd lost mine but actually hadn't. Anyhoo, we thought it was game over and she'd have to spend the rest of the festival in the van Not so. She went to the security cabin thing at the top of the hill of death and joined a loooong line of people who'd done the same thing. The guy in the cabin must have had about 100 paper tickets that they'd found or had been handed in. Hers wasn't among them sadly so they checked her details, which took aaaages, but eventually agreed to let her in. They gave her a second wristband which she proudly sported for the rest of the week.
The moral of the story is that, although they said there was absolutely no way you could get back onsite without your paper ticket, she did. As did LOADS of other people. So I'm sure there's provision for people in your situation. Surely the whole point of having these non copyable tickets is to stop this kind of thing?
Re the plod, it might be worth ringing them daily to check that they are actually doing what they said they would. I had a similar thing recently where someone had stolen something from me which, from a copper's point of view was small potatoes, but for me was huge. I had to ring almost daily to keep on top of them and check progress. They do their best but they have limited resources and lots of demands on their time so I reckon it'll probably pay to keep on top of them, obviously being polite at all times.
Failing all that, you could just try and sneak in. People still do it. Good luck!
