anything that folds up will do so while spreading its load everywhere.
a trolley WILL get stuck in the mud unless it has great big wheels and that would prob make it to big to get on a train. even a sack truck would be difficult to get to the site.
if your like me then you need to unpack and lose half the stuff. dont take outfits for daytime and evening because you just end up putting a jumper on as it gets late, dont even take an outfit per day mix and match and treat yourself to some new clobber when your there. minimal make up cos when you havnt had a shower or washed your hair for days then make up makes no difference to your festie look.
dont stress about it though, even if you just manage to drag ur bags for 5 min then rest it gives you time to take in the site and the atmosphere is fantastic on the walk in.

I've invested in a folding (locking) sack truck for loads up to 50kg primarily for our family tent which weighs about 20kg, to get it from the car to the camping location easily, and then with us and the kids carrying stuff as well. I know there is a risk the trolley wheels will get stuck in ruts etc. but it's worth a try I reckon. It's more than just a suitcase trolley so I'm quite hopeful. The rest of our stuff we will put in backpacks, the plan being to do the car to camp transfer in one go. If it turns out we have to lug the tent by hand first and then go back for everything else then so be it.

I took a "Heavy Duty" folding one last year and it was ok but did have a habit of trying to fold while being either pushed or pulled along.
I can't remember which way around it was but either pulling or pushing worked a lot better.

I've found that unless taking kid(s) it should be possible to carry everything you need. With kids it looks like either a non-folding, pneumatic-wheeled sack truck or a wheel barrow is the way to go.

The adrenalin & excitement of being at Glastonbury definitely gives you a boost when carrying stuff though.

If you're going to take a trolley, take a fishing trolley.

They're designed to carry large awkward loads over rough terrain.

I'll have to give the trolley a good trial before we go then. As far as I can see the folding function and lock are further secured by the weight of what's on the trolley so I can't see how it will easily fold up as it's going along, better test it though!

Talking B&Q trolley
I bought a neat folding one from B&Q. It can be used as a 2 wheeler or flat as a 4 wheeler. Haven't used it 'in anger' yet so not sure how well it will cope with rough tracks or mud. I'm on my own and like my comfort so have a lot to carry. Worthwhile for me as I shall also use it for lugging stuff around my garden as I get decrepit in my not too distant dotage.

If anyone is near a branch of Leekes, I went in yesterday and they had non-folding, pneumatic wheeled sack truck for £20. I'm torn between that and my wheelbarrow (which I've now painted specially!)

We've just bought one, the fixed tublar type.
After a few discusions with the Mrs over who's doing the carrying of the ruck sack ect (i had a major RTA in March and my neck/shoulders are fudged) she wanted to do the heavy stuff (bloody equality) so it seems like a wise move. Bit OTT if you ask me, but hay ho

i have one of these for my fishing, you can pick them up cheap enough 2nd hand on forums etc and can point you in the right direction if you require one.

they fold down flat too.

Question Trolley choice advice?
I'm new (and one of the older newbies too ;-)) I've been asking around if I can borrow one - main worry is I am driving a mini so what can I fit in the back? I'm travelling solo and a bit of a pune with carrying stuff, plus bringing some booze etc so a trolley is a must.

I'm thinking about investing in one of these tri-trucks or else my garden centre has these trolleys which I reckon I can get in my car with the sides folded down. Bloody pricey though. This one has the advantage of chunkier wheels.

Which leads me to my next question and I will try to be delicate in asking it. How safe will my stuff be during the day? If I have an expensive trolley should I look to take it back to the car and lock it up during the festival? Is there a code of honour amongst festival goers or should I anticipate the worst - don't want to bring stuff if it is going to get half-inched.

Soooooo excited now!

Hi,
Your first question only yourself and other Mini owners can answer.

Both trolly/trucks seem a little expensive personally, unless of course you're going to get regular use from it. I've gone for more basic design http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/pr...rucks-trolleys and some pallet wrap. If your thinking of taking it back to the car then you might as well not bother with a trolley, just do two *light* trips without the trolley

A code of practice?? You would like to think so but there is aways a couple of idiots or thieves. I think with the increased security it is a lot less likley to happen now than it was when i use to attend in the '90's and i never had any problems then. General rule is *if you can't afford to lose it then don't take it*

You could possibly leave it in a property lockup - I know they take items up to the size of bikes so you may be ok.

I had kind of assumed I would have to take my folding trolley back to the car for safe keeping - on the basis that it may be a desirable item for those without - but that's a good idea about checking to see if it will fit in a lockup.

Lay it on its back, put a cover over it and you got a fire side bench

Default Wimp?
OK - now I am being told elsewhere (Facebook) not to be a wimp, to forget the trolley as it'll get stuck, to pack lighter and do a few trips to the car. All confused! Please can someone make up my mind for me? . I'm really not planning on taking much, but my tent is quite heavy for a girl alone, and I have a folding chair and self-inflating single mattress. That + rucksack/clothes and the usual stuff - some booze, fags, some make up (YES I NEED IT) and first-aid essentials... definitely more than one trip if carrying. I'm sure one of the trolley-type things is going to be better?

I have been quite a few times and always had people to share the load with but this year have my son (8) and puney me! I am taking a buggy as it is just well easier in my head. I know how knackered I get if it falls apart I will still take it home though as not to ad to the mess like last year!!

After the event, I know, but useful info for next year, the folding-trolley-naysayers were absolutely correct. Our folding trolley collapsed even before it had been loaded into the car. It was supposed to take 50kg but the folding mechanism on the wheels was just not strong enough to take the jolts and bumps with the weight on. And between the car and the campsite I saw many other discarded and broken folding trolleys, some like mine, that had come a cropper on some of Mr Eavis's big rocks and stones. In the end I did a mad dash to B&Q the night before going, and getting one of their big orange £25 one piece chunky-wheeled sack trucks which did us proud and will do for many other purposes too. It just meant that space was at a premium in the car, fitting the trolley in around other luggage and passengers.

On Monday while walking through the devastation I saw a brand new four wheel fuck off cart that had been abandoned as the front axle had collapsed! I had thought they were indestructible.
