SeeTickets Glasto ticket status banner
I've knocked up this banner to automatically check the current ticket status. You can place it on websites and blogs or use it as a forum sig.
It checks Seetickets every 5 minutes and displays the current ticket status lines.
The URL for the image is http://www.glastowatch.co.uk/tickets/ticketwatch.jpg and I highly recommend that you link it to http://www.seetickets.com/g2010/ so that as soon as someone spots that it's changed, they can click straight through to SeeTickets.
If for some reason it cannot read the current ticket status e.g. if they make a fundamental change to the structure of the page (unlikely) or redirect it to the SeeTickets homepage (already happened), it will display the following message encouraging you to check the site
When the status does change, can someone please save a copy of the page's HTML (not a screen dump) for me, so I can see the changes made to the page to help me improve the script.
I hope some of you find this useful.

Interesting Issue!!
Ive put it on Glasto.biz, but when I click the image it takes me to the See index page
I know the ticket link is working
I wonder why I can't get the link to actually link correctly

See seem to be blocking links to the page where Glasto.biz is the referer

They've possibly blacklisted your site because it was hitting that page every 20 seconds with your ticket checking page. In fact, it'd be more often then every 20 secs if more then one person at a time was using said page.
That's why I set the banner to check every 5 mins and cache the result instead of doing it in real time whenever the image is viewed. It saves bandwidth, processing power and hopefully won't piss See off.

If you have another domain, route your links through that to See.

Yeah, I created a bit.ly, but because it's still coming from Glasto.biz it doesn't like it
If you can tell me how to route through another address and put the link on Glasto.biz, then please let me know, I'll update it later

Just redirect a page on the other domain.
Various ways to do it, .htaccess, PHP, meta refresh, JavaScript etc.

You can put it anywhere where you can put an image that doesn't need to be upoaded. Images on Facebook need to be uploaded so it won't work there, all will get is a snap-shot of the image when it was uploaded..
You can put it on blogs e.g. wordpress.com and blogger.com, your own webisite or on forums (as above or in a sig if allowed).
Most sites have a simple way to insert images, e.g. on this and many other forums, you click the icon on the editor. To insert it manually on blogs and websites, you use HTML, like this.
|
HTML Code:
|
<a href="http://www.seetickets.co.uk/g2010/" target="_BLANK">
<img src="http://www.glastowatch.co.uk/tickets/ticketwatch.jpg" border="0" alt="Glastonbury Festival news, rumours and line-up info">
</a> |
To use it on a forum, you use BBCode like this.
|
HTML Code:
|
[URL="http://www.seetickets.com/g2010/"]
[IMG]http://www.glastowatch.co.uk/tickets/ticketwatch.jpg[/IMG]
[/URL] |
