Question Security concerns
Hi there,

I am a complete newbie to Glastonbury and my wife and I and maybe a few friends are planning to go next year (2011) for the first time.

Although we regularly go camping around the south west, my wife is a bit concerned about the security of camping at Glasto (a friend had her tent slashed and stuff stolen twice this year whilst she was sleeping in the tent!) and so we thought we would hire a camper van and go in the campervan field instead.

My question is whether anyone has experience of the kind of security in the campervan field and whether our or a hired campervan is going to damaged or broken into. Sounds a bit paranoid I know but you hear lots of scare stories.

Appreciate that people have different views about whether you get the true experience in a van rather than under canvas but the luxury of a hot clean shower in a van is rather appealing.

any comments/experiences welcome.

Thanks very much.

We stayed in the campervan field in 2009 and from what I saw secruity was great, The fire stewards are in towers and have a fairly decent view. And if you get to know your neighbours they will always help keep an eye on things.

We have never had any issues with tent theft but we do know it happens.

Staying in the campervan is still a glasto experience, it just suits some more than others.

Oh and welcome to the forum

Spent the last 2 years in a motorhome. Unlike a tent you can lock it up and there are always people around so I wouldn't worry too much about security there.

I stayed in caravan this year and felt very safe. The main thing is don't take anything you can't afford to lose/ get stolen and there is also the lock ups.
