Default Scousers
Did anyone else notice the amount of em getting about this year or was it just me?

Everywhere I went I heard the accent, I think a van full of tickets must of broken down down near stanley park this year

Did anyone hear the number of home counties accents around this year?
Or Brummies?
Or West Country?
Or Scottish?
Or Welsh?

Honestly.

Getting a little bit sick of the anti scousers vibe on this forum.

Oh cause were from liverpool and at a festival we must have robbed our tickets.

so much for everyone is welcome a Glastonbury !!

ermm did i once say that i was annoyed at the scousers being there? I was just commenting on the amount I heard about and so did most of the people I was with! And the comment about robbing the tickets is a joke get over it, you come from liverpool you get steryotyped at being a robbing c**t, i'm from manchester i get steryotyped at being a smack head so get over it!!

I had some joke times with some scousers at the commen with us all taking the piss out of each other from where we were from and having huge football arguments from all 4 teams from both cities!

Agree-as someone who speaks with a very broad London accent I love the fact that I hear different accents at the festival.
By the way-first fella I met on Tuesday night was a Scouser and a proper nice fella.
Met nice people from all over the country/world at the festival

I did hear a lot of northern accents haha.

It didn't worry me to hear the accents, I don't think of scousers as robbing gits lol.

I did however notice the amount of teenage boys in trackies, absolutely wasted and acting like complete idiots. I will add that this is no generalisation of those who choose to wear the kind of clothing associated with 'chavs' before anyone freaks out ;p

Ditto teenage girls, lots of them wearing hardly anything, a lot of drunk ones who looked like they think it's incredibly cool to not be able to stand up by themselves.

And that's coming from a 19 year old..

There were a LOT of first timers this year - I reckon mainly due to the amazing weather and time had last year and people thinking 'I want a bit of that'. Newbies aren't a bad thing - they are the future - but when they arrive with an attitude and bad manners then they're not welcome.

I commented to my friends on Saturday when I noticed what was going on about people walking straight at you on the paths, no-one seemed to be helping anyone else out and the number of people barging through crowds was way above anything I've experienced in the past.

PS - thanks for not pigeon-holing all scousers. I'm one and I'm a nice guy, as are all my Liverpool-born friends.

I don't know whether the ones I noticed were first-timers or not. This year was my second, and I know I didn't act like a jerk in my first year either.

It's somewhere that I want to just relax and take in the atmosphere, I want to enjoy seeing the bands and experiencing things that I otherwise probably wouldn't ever experience. I find it really hard to understand why people go to just get completely trashed and not remember a single thing, and the majority I saw in that state were 'chavvy' teens, with half of them barely older than 15.

I'm quite an observant person, I'll happily sit quietly and just watch what's happening around me, hence why I'm saying this.

I know the festival is for everyone, but the least you can do is show some respect to other people trying to enjoy themselves and just have at least some remaining dignity at the end of it. By all means enjoy yourself, and if that means having a drink or taking drugs then I'm not going to try and convince you otherwise, but remember you're sharing the experience with 175000 other people! I think it's great that it brings together people from all over country, and even from other countries as well. We camped next to some Australians and I loved hearing them talk about how different the weather was here, they were totally baffled by it!

Yaaarp. I love it too

I do love the huge cross section of society there is at the festival, I just hope it doesn't go the 'wrong way' with people acting like they do on the outside, Glastonbury is a special place where we can all get along and it doesn't matter who you are, what you do, what you wear, where you come from.

I'd love it if we could all just get along.

as a scouser guess we all get tagged with the same brush-its just easy isn't it to play to stereotypes? as for me I worked a bar for 3 x 8 hour shifts and didn't honestly hear one person from "back home"

couldn't put it better myself- there seemed to be LOADS of kids drunk from the get go through all weekend and many more groups of "lads" there not for the music in any way at all -just there to act like arrogant scallies on a night out

Oh how very unfortunately, but I had several fine glasses of cabernet sauvignon utterly ruined, ruined I say, by these estuary northern accents perpetuating themselves from a veritable entirety of directions.

Unfortunately I came away from Glastonbury with some very sad views towards the normally loved scousers!

They thoroughly ruined it for MANY festival goers this year! Such a shame.

One of my best friends is a Scouse so I'm not a hater but the behaviour of A LOT that attended Glasto was disgraceful, upsetting and quite scary at times.

It was only my second time this year, my last being in 2009! But I must say there was an element of some ignorant and just plain rude people attending this time around. Its a sad sight when people spend all that money to go to a festival and try and ruin the experience for others. I'm not dissing any scousers here, im just referring to some people in general wherever they are from. Sad Sad Times. The thing I love most about Glastonbury is when you go through the gate, everyone has an almost unknown 'love' for one another, and people you normally wouldnt speak to outside of the fence are now your new best friends, if that goes, then I'm sad to say I'll have to move on to another festival. Why do some people just insist on spoiling it for everyone else! I was eating a lovely curry chip on the Saturday night and this random guy came over and knocked it out of my hands and ran away, I wasnt impressed, put me in a bad mood for a while. Of course until the drink calmed me down! But anyways Glasto 2011 was amazing and I met some truely amazing people from all over the place! So theres still quite a few of us about that are just out to have a good time and bring others along with us! See you at Glasto 2013!!! of course as long as i get tickets

Well funny you should mention scousers, Our very own iStrategy Social Media Manager Marie spent five (unwashed) days at Glastonbury, whereby she had a fleeting meeting with a very attractive (her words) Liverpudlian man who wore a black hat and was very tall. Marie left Glastonbury with muddy wellies and no contact details.

To mention that i noticed that there was a increase in the number of people from liverpool or with liverpool accent there this year and to see if it was just me being a manc and easily distinguishing between their accent and others ... hope you don't mind, do you want me to run by everything I post on here through you first???

Was this your first Glastonbury? I do know what GlastoMad means, I felt a different atmosphere from previous years and it wasn't anything to do with an accent but an attitude. Went to see the Chemical Bros- now I'm not into any drug other than alcohol and each to his own etc, but I felt way out of place at the Other stage that night and moved to the back because I genuinely felt threatened by the number of people selling E's and coke - they were clearly there to deal and weren't festival lovers as far as I could see! I had a great chat on Thursday night with a Glaswegian who was a great laugh- his first Glasto and his accent was just luvverly! John Bishop- now there's a great Scouser!!

He appeared recently at the theatre I work at and he was one of the few artists we have had there who personally came and thanked the staff+ he was very funny! Yeah I bet his son loves the cash! Strangely the nicest guy we had there (personally that is, was Rhyddian!)

Do you think a public forum like this one is a good time and place for making racist jokes?

Mate shut up and grow up (and thats coming from a youth) it was clearly a joke, if you'd been on here longer you'd know that every comment aint serious and is meant as a joke like is alot of glastonbury ... look around you will see this, get to know before you start having a go at people!!

And as for it being 'racist' again grow up it stereotyping a region for their worst characters, scousers as people that rob people, mancs as smack heads, the welsh as shagging sheep etc Now i've got mates from all over the place and we all take these stereotypes as a joke and have a laugh about it when we do, if you can't take a joke lighten up a little and maybe don't go to glastonbury or come on a glastonbury forum where people have opener minds ... jog on

And as for it being 'racist' again grow up it stereotyping a region for their worst characters, scousers as people that rob people, mancs as smack heads, the welsh as shagging sheep etc Now i've got mates from all over the place and we all take these stereotypes as a joke and have a laugh about it when we do, if you can't take a joke lighten up a little and maybe don't go to glastonbury or come on a glastonbury forum where people have opener minds ... jog on
I believe you are completely missing the point. This is a public forum. You can't assume that everyone reading your posts will have been here long enough to know that "every comment aint serious and is meant as a joke". We also don't have the opportunity to observe your body to tell if your comments are tongue in cheek.

You tell me to grow up but if you had a more grown up attitude yourself you would politely explain to those you offended that you didn't mean your comments to be taken seriously and are sorry for any offence caused. Instead you told them to shut up and grow a sense of humour.

Okay i might have missed your point a little but as it is a 'public forum' surely i can say what I want even if its offensive to some people, even though not once have I had a go at anyone in a racist or abusive way, when i stereotyped people from liverpool I also did it for people where I live in manchester and regular people on here know thats where I'm from so not to seem abusive or agressive or 'racist' as you say! And when you say i need to say

i have done stating this comment was a joke on at least 2 occasions so if you bothered to read what i've actually said previously you would see that I was joking and have said that no offence was meant and that not once said I had a problem with scousers and that I rather enjoyed their company, I just simply asked the question if it was just me and my mates that had noticed their increase this year! So yeah grow a sense of humor, we carry on the spirit of glastonbury on this forum year round so you might need one if your gonna stick around
