Recent site performance

If you tried to access this site on Sunday or yesterday, you may have experienced some difficulty.

This was due to excessive web traffic to the main site as a result of the ticket resale on Sunday, and the leaked line-up highlights I posted yesterday, which was then further aggravated by the fact that The Guardian and NME both quoted me as sources for the line-up leak. This coupled with increased search engine traffic and a sharp rise in visitors from Facebook and Twitter was more than the server could handle.

As if that wasn't bad enough, when word got out that the official line-up was being released at 9:30pm last night, Glasto web traffic through the roof knocking out the official Glastonbury Festival site, as well as this one.

Anyway, enough of the excuses, I've now activated a cache on the main site that'll drastically reduce the load on the server which'll prevent this from happening again. I'm also going to double the server RAM to increase overall performance.

There shouldn't have been any problems this morning. I've checked the usage logs and there was consistent activity all morning, so there's no reason why anyone should have had a problem.

Perhaps it was a temporary routing problem between you and the site.
