Pregnant at Glasto..
Just wondering if any ladies here have done a Glasto whilst pregnant?
I'll only be about 15/16 weeks gone by the time Glasto rolls around, so won't be huge by any means.. but am already worrying about things! I'm an old hand at Glasto, but this is my first pregnancy so I'm already a bit paranoid re: crowds, very frequent toilet trips, food hygiene etc.
Also, I'm sure I've read in the past that pregnant ladies should to report to medical staff to let them know where they're camping, but can't see anything about that on the website this year? Or is that only if you're closer to full term?
Any advise greatly appreciated!

Medical facilities are more than able to cope with you! I'm guessing you'll be nowhere near term when you're at the festy but even if you were then there have been several births at previous festivals (and countless conceptions!). There are doctors and midwives on duty 24hours, one hospital tent and one smaller medical centre. The medical services are able to cope with most medical problems and emergencies, an ambulance service is also in operation throughout the site. If you feel you are likely to have need of medical attention whilst you're at the festival it would be a good idea to make yourself known to the medical peeps when you get on site.
On the cleaner toilets side of things there are a few nice toilets near the farm, otherwise hovering and taking extra care on hygine will have to do.
I wouldn't let being pregnant put me off going to the festival (but then I'm a man and thinking about it, if I found I was pregnant then it might scare me off...), I'm sure you will have a great time and rest assured that the medical services are more than adaquate, staffed by proffessionals and have shorter waits than your local A&E.

If you notify the festival office they take your details and if at anytime you feel tiered you just need to find a steward and they will send a van to take you where you need to go.

Seem to remember walking past a tent up in the healing fields run by midwives. Can't say I took much notice being a bloke and not pregnant but looked like it was somewhere you could go and chill out for a while if you needed it.

hi there,
I was trawlin the forums for some advice on taking an 8 month old to glasto and saw this thread.
I was 20 weeks pregnant at glasto last year and had a great time. I decided on luxury though and we borrowed a motorhome from our neighbours as I didn't fancy sleeping on the ground.
best piece of advice I can give you....
find the radical midwives yurt in the healing fields, the midwives there are lovely, will provide you with tea and a comfortable place to sit and they have info on the use of 'special' toilets across the site, trust me you want to speak to them, it'll be a lifesaver if the baby decides to dance on your bladder when you are at the pyramid stage (which happened to me 3 times during Stevie Wonder's set!!)

Hi, I havn't done a pregnant glasto but I did take my 6 week old baby in 2008 and my best mate was pregnant there in 2009, and she is again this year as well! Its absolutely fine, you can steer clear of the really busy parts if your worried, theres plenty of places to just chill and take it all in. Worry not! you will be totally fine If you ever feel like you need to get out of somewhere quick just find the stewards and they can arrange a lift out for you to somewhere quieter. The radical midwives in the greenfields are totally amazing! go and see them, they are a fab bunch and one of the midwifes that work there (annie) delivered my second baby, not at glasto mind, but she was a total diamond! I think its a lovely place to be actually, and i'm sure your little growing baby will enjoy the peaceful vibe you will be in. Obviously you cant indulge in usual glasto intoxication, but who cares, you will have a lovely time and see the festival from a whole different perspective!
Have a fab time, and good luck for your future delivery and baby!

My best friend was pregnant last year and she was fine. She raved about the midwives in the healing fields too.
The only piece of advice I'd give you is to maybe negotiate with your friends / husband / partner in advance that there'll always be someone who's happy to go with you if you want to go chill out in the tent, healing fields etc. It got a bit tricky a couple of times last year as my friend was tired and wanted to go relax but everyone was totally hammered and on one and not really in the zone for going back to the camper van and sitting on their own waiting for others to come back while she had a nap. It was fine in the end; between me, her sister and her husband we made sure she was never alone. Just something worth thinking about, particularly if you're going with big party people. Probably completely unnecessary if the people you're with are considerate and caring but just thought I'd mention it anyway.
Said friend has now said her ambition for Glasto this year is to end up "naked, face down in a pile of mud" since she had to be totally sober last year. She's leaving the baby with the grandparents and I for one am really looking forward to getting hammered with my best mate for the first time in about 2 years!

IF it does rain the 1st place I will be going is to the nearest puddle! We went in 2007 with the kids and I sooooo wanted a mud bath but didn't want the hassle of the clean up while the kids where with us!

My sister is coming with us to Glastonbury this year and she's around 10 weeks...I think maybe the best idea would be to not get into any big moshpits etc and take some antibacterial handrub! I'm sure you'll be fine though, looking at the map it seems like there's lots of medical points just in case.
