Used to suffer quite badly until I discovered Beat-Herder. This weekend has just been the perfect post-Glasto pick me up!

We seem to have avoided it this year, felt pretty shitty last wednesday after unpacking and washing so we went and bought new carpets and some paint and completely redocorated both kids rooms without them knowing. Been plain sailing since.

We had to go in to work on Wednesday and Thursday which was harsh beyond measure, but then on Friday headed up to Cheshire and stayed there for the weekend. The reason? The Flaming Lips headlining the first ever gig at Jodrell Bank! Out-musing Muse with the backdrop to end all backdrops, they put on their (un)usual display of wonderfulness! It was a beautiful day, a lovely little festival, 5,000 capacity, lots of cool nerdy stuff going on - seriously, using a special telescope to look at solar flares while standing in the shadow of the Lovell Radio Telescope before seeing the Flaming Lips all added up to an awesome weekend! Post-Glastonbury Blues nicely put to bed.

Seeya there, although I'm away on business that week & don't fly back into Heathrow until 6am Friday so I may spend a fair proportion of it asleep in the van.

I've got camp Bestival on my mind now- 20 miles up the road, a miniature walk from the car park and the farmer gives rides to the furthest corner anyway!! Ok the line up isn't quite Glasto and there are TONS of kids but Primal Scream are closing with Blondie, Mark Ronson, Ed Sheeran and loads more. Plus Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall has a River Cottage tent with the best spicy lamb burgers!! The Glasto mud did me in somewhat and the 2 1/2 hour round trip to the car park Sunday lunchtime so I wasn't quite as bluesy this year! Need to do it differently next time, thinking tipi or tangerine fields- there's an extra year to save!!

Ha ha! Yes I know what you mean! The waiting for two hours, in the rain, on Friday for the surprise guests who weren't who I wanted them to be ( wish I'd had a heads-up) has now faded from 'what a waste of time' to 'never mind'. Seriously trying to plan 2013 a bit differently. may have to change my job just to actually do the whole five days!! Getting home at 3.30 am and up for work at 7 wasn't fun- but hey ho I'd do it again!

I keep looking at the ever decreasing wellie marks on my calf! It makes me sad they will be gone soon. The only major come down so far so its better than any other years. Maybe its age. Christmas seems ages away when you are a kid. But oh so close when you grow up. Next years fallow year will be pretty easy. It's the year the festival is on and we can't go that are hard to digest

the only thing i'm sad about after glasto this year is that i dont have the post glasto blues, this is the first time since 2007 that i haven't felt terrible about leaving. I didnt have any of the troubles or bad experiences that some of the other poor folks had to endure and i had some great times with some fantastic new friends but i was actually glad to leave this year, i really dont know why but it didnt feel the same to me this year. it felt overcrowded, disorganised and at the moment i have no intention of even trying to go in 2013. i really hope this feeling passes as i remember how good i normally feel whilst there and how much i look forward to it each year and i want that feeling back!

Think they have just kicked in now
Makes you realise what a great time you had when you start watching various bits on iplayer or youtube and they also start triggering off other good random memories/thoughts.
Spent the afternoon chatting/drinking/chilling with my neighbour who used to go back in the days before the fence and swapping stories/tales and realised just what a big part that Glastonbury in my life. Don't know (and don't really care) if that's "normal" but do know that I miss not being there so much.
2 weeks ago we were right in the middle of things
Roll on 2013.

I've been going my entire adult life and it is the one thing in all that time that has remained constant! For me, Glastonbury is normality!
There was a wonderful moment, just before the Glastowatch meet, when Lou and I bumped into our friends Geoff, Rhi and Lawrence outside the West Holts Bar and something extraordinary occurred to me... I turned to the others and said, "You know, I remember being here last year, and obviously I'm here now, but I'll be damned if I can remember the bit in between..." And in all seriousness, if you'd asked me the name of the company I worked for, I couldn't have told you. Everything that happened in the intervening year was a bit of a blur. No, I'm not sure that's "normal" but who gives a rat's arse?!
All I can say is, if Glastonbury has become a big part of your life, you're doing it right!
We will see you mate, on schedule, in 2013!

I know what you're saying. I felt like that after 2002. No real reason, I always quote 98 and 08 as being the years I didn't really enjoy, but after both of them I couldn't wait to get back. 2002, for me personally, just didn't kick off and I left feeling pretty indifferent and the idea of returning just wasn't there. It goes without saying that I returned and have had some of the best years since! All I can say is, if you've been, and you get it, I'd go again if I were you! You could find yourself sat at home in June 2013 watching it all on the Beeb with a face like this dude's arse:

Cheers buddy for the reply, i really hope i do feel like going again as it really has become a big part of my life over the last 5 years. i know one thing, i could never watch it on TV, think i'd have to go on a very long holiday a long way away just to make sure i missed as many references to glast as possible!

We have put our wedding back (again!) until June 2013 that way if we get tickets we can have our honeymoon at Glasto. If we don't get tickets we will book our narrow boat trip for the glasto weekend and escape from it all!

A long weekend in Dublin did the job for me.
Great Guinness and live music in almost every bar.
What more can you ask for?

Indeed, saw them at Knockengorroch earlier this year. Before I heard them I thought it was a bit of a gimmick, a "funny-once" if you like, but no, they were dead good.

Strip away the raw energy of Down in the Tube Station at Midnight and you find a really lovely tune. Excellent stuff, highly recommended if they're playing a venue near you!

Saw them last year at Glastonbury and before that in Birkenhead and they were fantastic. Apparently they're back in the area around November - can't wait!

Back in the 80's some may remember a crap prog rock band called Magnum who used to turn up at every festival to cries of "Oh Christ not them again"! I'm afraid the Bad Shepherds are rapidly becoming the modern day equivalent (although they were actually a lot better than usual at Knockengorroch).

*sticks out bottom lip* Well I liked them...
The Bad Shepherds, that is. Never heard of a Magnum that wasn't covered in chocolate.
