Difficult but not impossible, back in 2008 the wife came to pick me and a mate up. We walked off the site up to the festival bus station, but as the ques were about 2-300 people and it was chucking it down, I decided to phone the wife.
Plan was to meet at Glastonbury town, me walking her driving from Devon. We started walking down the A361 towards Glastonbury and came accross the Taxi pick up point.
Its clearly marked on the map next to W50 car park, top left of the map.

This is a small layby with a B road leading off called "Lower Westholme Road" this is the route that the taxis use. I got chatting to one of the drivers waiting for somebody and he radioed through to his base and got us a taxi to Wells for about £10, bargain!
I then phoned the wife, who by now was stuck in trafic in Glastonbury town, and asked her to make for Wells bus station. We then made for Wells bus station in the taxi, when we got to Wells we were waiting at some traffic lights to turn right and she passed right in front of us.
I got to utter those emortal words "Follow that cab!" Priceless...
You could get your mate to meet you at Wells and get a taxi like we did or if he is really brave, try and get to the Taxi drop off point.
Grid map ref for the drop off point is
51.159,-2.606
Go to google maps and put that in the search bar and you should go straight to it.
Hope that is of some help, took ages to type and find the right spot on the A361.
