Default I need mega advice
Guys...not long now but I am very wary. I have loads of questions so please dont laugh, just assist me.

I am coming from the North which is a 6 hour drive...If I leave at 6am Wednesday will I get down and into the festival ok....or is it better, to stay down nearer the festival in a travel inn the night before. I dont want to do this, but if I'm driving 6 hours...and have hours to que...I'll be

I think I have a good idea of what I need, but footwear...trainers....wellies? ALSO....is it cold...I live MILES away and I've no idea.

Also I am camping with the solo goers on facebook...how can I find the best place to park, near where we decide to camp..

Jeeeezz.

Also...plastic bottles...minimal food, lots of drink and dry warm clothes.

Ive no fancy dress...no glow sticks haha Im pretty much the standard camper.

ANY advice at all, please hit me

Hello and welcome! Right, firstly if you can get on the road earlier rather than later you won't be stuck in hours of traffic on Wednesday, drive through the night if you have to. You can sleep when you're dead.

Definately take wellies whatever the forecast says, last year was exceptional and it was flip flops all the way, don't think we'll be so lucky this year. I assume this is your first time at Glasters? Theres lots of walking so take footwear you know you will be comfortable wearing all day and night (as well as wellies in case its not a mudbath).

It won't be too cold at night, but take something to wear just in case (layers not thick woolies).

Unfortunately you don't get much choice about where you park so its just suck it and see, if you have a rough idea of where you want to camp at least you can get an idea of how far you have to walk when you get to the car park!

Don't worry though, just be prepared for all weathers and enjoy it!

Regarding driving, I don't drive but I would recommend leaving as early as possible, even Tuesday night and having a kip in the car park. To be honest you'll probably be far too excited to worry about how much sleep you'll get

If you know where you're camping, then look at the map on the glasto site (http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.u...map6june11.jpg) and see which the nearest gate is. Try and approach from the appropriate direction as you can find yourself heading into a car park on the opposite side to where you're camping! It's not the end of the world, once you're in you're in, but you will have a walk ahead of you! We're coming from London (east of Glastonbury) but will be going down the M4, then down the M5 so we can approach from the west. That way we hit the West Car Park, close to Gate D and only a field away from our chosen campsite.

Nelly is spot on about all things dress-wise. Footwear needs to be comfortable as you'll be doing a lot of walking! It's a huge site and there's more to explore than you'll ever fit in! Sadly, it looks like boots will be required this year... I always wear a pair of army boots I picked up at Glastonbury in '98. High ankles, waterproof and very comfortable. Docs will do, but might not cope with the worst of the (potential) mud. Wellies are ideal, but I find them uncomfortable to wear for a whole weekend. Just bear in mind two things: you need to be comfortable and it's a farm! And as for clothes, layers and waterproofs. And shorts and t-shirts. And sandals. And a hat...!

One thing that will take you by surprise is just how much you can buy when you're there! Cold? Buy a hand-knitted jumper. Wet? Buy an army poncho. Forgot your tent? Go to the Millets stall and buy one. Hungry? Boy, have you got a treat in store! Thirsty? Woo hoo! Need a new wallet? Go to the Make a Tetrapak Wallet Workshop...

Have a wonderful, wonderful festival! Nothing to be wary of, you'll love it!

As above, but I'd bring something to transport your stuff onto the site, ie. sack trolley, wheelbarrow etc. The last thing you want to be doing in a downpour is making numerous trips back to your car!

We came down the M3 last year expecting to go to the East car park which we didn't really want to do, as it turned out we followed signs for the colour of our car park sticker (not necessary) and ended up at the West car park - hurrah!
