Love the farm....
Just watched this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DXNSL_1tmY
As its says at the top, the festival is created by people who care for people who mostly don't.
Take it home. Have some respect.

Throw rubbish in the bin (throughout the whole festival! Lets face it, it's not difficult!).
And don't leave anything behind at the end.
The hard work that goes in to creating one of the most amazing events of the year definitely should earn some respect, and keeping the farm clean is a bloody good way of showing some

If you smoke try to take a tin so you can take all the butts home, they take forever to decompose.

And I don't think the cows like them either. I did hear that every single one has to be picked up before the cows can be let out.
It's not hard to tidy up. You get given bin bags on your way in - we have one for normal rubbish and one for recycling. Anything you don't want to take home (ie camping stuff) can be left with the camp recycling teams. And there are bins everywhere.
THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE!

Its something we feel quite strongly about as well. We bring literally everything home with us, even if its broken or damaged. We even ended up bringing some friends crap home last year cos they wanted to just leave it! They got a bit of an earbashing and a lesson lol

I remember being truly shocked on my first visit at the vast quantity of tents and crap that was lying around. (and by crap I mean that quite literally- a bucket full of s*** and stuff was left in a tent not far from us!) I get the feeling though, that if you're on this forum then you're not going to leave anything anyway!

Out of the normal population I'd say that about 60 - 70 percent are idot C**S. Glastonbury festival attracts a fairly accurate cross section of our society, therefore this kind of thing is to be expected. Not that I agree with leaving all that shit everywhere, just that it'll never change and there's nothing to be done about it really.....

tat, tat tat... i love tat. Very oftern ive gone home with more stuff than ive gone with. Its what monday afternoon is for; drinking the beer and pot noodles that are left behind.
My bet tat was a M&S sheep skin coat which has kept me warm the last couple of winters. Other notable tats: A wind up torch, went looking for spair for my broken tent, but found a whole (never upacked tent) of the ame type.

We do to. I'm a big nagger about rubbish and recycling. When I walk my dog I often come home with arm fulls of stuff for recycling.
Glastonbury isn't just about music, its also about showing people how we can live and care for the environment but sadly it does tend to fall on deaf ears as Cans pretty much said, but if just a few people learn each year, it all helps.

Another You tube video I watched showed the after math / tatters and one guy said he found £6000 and about a kilo of dope!

I plan not to leave until late on Monday this year - no need to rush back, so will do my bit and tidy up around me to help out. Normally we only do our own, but its all about giving something back to the farm and keeping the cows homes clean!!
I cant imagine what its going to be like walking around late Monday afternoon, silent and full of scrap? I have to say the story Nelly told of the £6K and the kilo of dope is so funny - they must have been well gone to forget that!!

I can kind of see why people regard camping kit as disposable, especially when it's so cheap. Or it's come all neatly packed in a box that you can't get it back into/ don't have room to store it in your Uni bedsit / you split the cost with 3 mates and can't decide who owns it now.
However, that's still no reason to leave it lying about in a field, or worse still gratuitously slashing or burning it (Something I've seen more of in the last few years and it's vile).
So, I shall be a Monday Womble and go hunting for tents, chairs and bits of dead trolley(I shall make Frankencart) for future camping trips. I've even made lovely bags out of broken tents.
Recycling FTW!

I noticed that this year Millets aren't doing the collect on site thing which I personally think is better, like TAFKAS said, it's so cheap to buy some camping gear so to collect on site and then just leave it is far too tempting.
The fact that there are readily advertised designated areas for leaving unwanted camping gear to go to charity etc really helps, but some people are just lazy and don't give a toss about the environment.
I get so cross
If it was my farm I'd do a stock check on the way in and make them take it all home (totally impractical I know), if they don't then they are banished FOREVER.
Get arf my land!
