Default KIDS & MUD
My wife has raised an unfortunately quite reasonable question. What about the kids and the mud, flooded tents etc etc. I went this year and it was amazing but with no wife or kids. What happens when the weather is not as good? Is it disasterous, or with reasonable precautions can it still be incredible. My son has a slight disability that causes him to quite easily lose his balance, I tend to have this image of him falling over face first in the mud and then tantrums, screaming etc. Not really being able to clean him up and with that amazing power the young kids have of sucking the joy out of a fanstastic situation.

Personally, I would rather ignore 'reality' and just go with the flow but my missus is far more steeped in the sensible aspects of such an adventure. So, please - sock it me.

We took our 2 kids for their 1st time in 2007 aged 10 and 8 and it was very very very wet. We had plenty of waterproofs and ponchos and we did have the odd moment when they seemed incredibly fed up but it never lasted long. The kidz field was amazing and with ALL the activities in the tents, even with lots of people and kids crammed into them we stayed happy and dry. We did laugh of a lot of possibly disasterous events (me and my 10 yr old son got stuck in some mud up to our knees but some rather strapping young men just fireman lifted us out and took us to a dry spot, a few of their friend even went back in and rescued our footwear.)
It didn't dampen our kids enthusiasm and they couldnt wait for the next year to come.
The answer is lots of ponchos, waterproofs and wetwipes. As we come back round to the festie time I will post some more as I remember, maybe even make a sticky topic on how to take kids and survive. It is worth it and even now they do laugh when we talk about "the wet one"

ha, ha thanks I need to give my mrs all the reassurance I can. potentially, getting a family tent soon we give camping a go to convince her that it isn't a living hell. Any family related posts, advice etc would be cool. read some of your previous posts about how to cope excellent stuff. noticed that you have an employer with same distrust of the internet as mine! thank god for anonymity!
