Default Highlights and Lowlights
So what were your highlights & lowlights?

Mine were...

Highlights:
- That moment when your tent is up and you can sit down and think "We made it!"
- The smile on my sons face when he was watching "tricks" (whether it was the skaters on the Greenpeace ramp, circus performers or just random people with diablos/poi), and seeing him have an awesome time in the Kidz field.
- Getting a couple of hours on my own to watch Black Keys and wander around Arcadia/Shangri La with my camera.
- Having a beer in the sun watching Slash play old GnR hits
- The big Yeo Valley yogurts
- The fire show on Sunday night
- Monday morning bargains
- So many more that I can't list them all!!

Lowlights:
- That queue to get in at pedestrian gate B!
- The massive tw4t of a bloke who threw his beercan on the floor walking up towards family camping, pushing a buggy, I was too much of a coward to challenge him
- The debris that people STILL leave behind despite the "leave no trace" campaign.
- Going home

Oh yeah - is it me or do the loos get better every year? Or is it just because I frequent different areas now (ie nearer family camping).

Massive thanks to the volunteers who make it all work - the loo cleaners, the lockup-staff, the litter pickers, the Kidz field staff/volunteers etc etc

Hi lights
The kids had an amazing time.
We went in the wrong entrance and ended up only 10 min away from the
best family camping area we have stayed so far (cricket ground)
Meeting one of the Lancashire Hotpots just after he posted on facebook
that if anyone spotted him then they would get a prize.
Whatme "rescuing" a friend from a porta loo (friend wasnt even stuck)
Meeting up with an old school friend I havnt seen for over 21 years!!!
Meeting friends from London who we only ever see at Glasto, weddings
funerals.

Low Points

6 Quid for a bag of ice WTF is that all about, inflated prices yes but 600% is taking the pith.

My son is 13 and we spent 185 on his ticket and they wouldnt give him a wristband. we will be writing to someboday about that cos we really felt it was unfair.

And of course the litter, we brought EVERYTHING home with us, including broken beds and chairs and it was a bit more hassle but if somebody invites you to the best party in the world then you should all behave.

Waiting another year for it to all happen again!

Highlights - Various random events that I wouldn't have normally seen. The Gentle Mystics at The Hub, while waiting for Nick Turner. were really good. The Dog Head Geisha bar in Block 9 was fun. Gerry Dammers Spatial AKA Orchestra in West Holts was quite amazing, particularly when Arthur Brown came on and the whole orchestra marched round the field after the show, still playing their instruments. OS Mutantes at West Holts was excellent, as was Quintessence at the Glade. I found an amateur video on youtube and realised that I was standing about 10 foot away from Michael Eavis and didn't realise!

Lowlights - It just has to be all the rubbish. I have been going for several years now and just can't get over it. What are people thinking of? Am I from a different generation, or what? There is no excuse. If I had a drink I just folded up the paper cup and put it in my pocket until I walked past a bin. It is not difficult.

As I WAS a Glasto-Virgin, the whole experience was amazing for me, even the long drops were a novely on Wednesday. The sunsets from above Pennard were amazing, the random people and things you see (a middle aged man in a tutu asleep on the floor by the cider bus), and of course the music.

Again, the rubbish I saw was unbelievable, I don't know how people sleep at night. I was obsessive about taking my rubbish, apparently there is 1 bin for every 10 people there, absolutely no excuse.

Roll on 2011

Oh, and all the other little things going on in the healing fields, craft areas (naked wood turning anyone?), and the shadiest quietest place in Glasters for a snooze.

Highlights:

Stevie, Muse, Faithless, Scissor Sisters, Shakira, Vampire Weekend, Snoop, Dizzee, Corinne, Rolf, no traffic, the people - all of them, from the stewards, to disabled campsite people, and all the festival-goers who are completely bonkers

Lowlights:

Some of the paths were shocking for wheelchairs, even the ones near the disabled campsite itself
I know it's a farm (I do live on one myself...), and can understand the fields themselves being hard to push on, but feel more could be done with the tracks for wheelchairs
The ones in the backstage area were fine, because they knew small cars would be going on them, so had scrapped the tops and cleared all the stones, but didn't seem to bother with the others
Tried to not let it spoil my weekend and just enjoyed the music instead, think it did partly damage it for those who had to push me though (and thanks to everyone who offered to help push, or made space to get out of the crowded areas )

The music, the people, the weather, the atmosphere, 808 state playing in bez's acid house at 4 in the morning with the sun shining, florence and the machine, slash playin sweet child of mine, up the front for ray davis with his 30 piece choir, orbital headlining the other stage, watching temper trap play sweet disposition, cassette boy and there highly controversiol gig, broken social scene with a minium of 8 band members on stage at any one time, sweaty drum and bass gigs, bombay bicycle club, 2 door cinema club, the crazyness of beardyman, the shrangrila area where normal is anything but and anything but is completly normal!, the stranglers on that hot hot day, the orb, sea sick steve (what a legend!!), a skilz, the cribs, dj craze, faithless playin insomnia, theses were just some of the things that made Glastonbury 2010 the best festival I have ever been to yet! I will certainly be back next year for my 4th visit and anyone that is not will be missing
out to say the least!!!!

Highs:

Having a lovely evening in Pilton to ease me slowly into the fun the night before
Meeting friends old and new
Sharing an emotional moment at Bellas Bridge with a very emotional couple
Making new festival friends in the campsite
Watching random shiz on the outdoor circus stage, including a really funny band who I'm sure I've seen before but I can't think where. They were called Mik Artistics Ego Trip???
Seeing two thirds of Hobo Jones do an impromptu song outside the Water Aid toilets at the stone circle
Camping it up on Saturday with the Scissor Sisters, followed by Pet Shop Boys
A gawjuss massage in the Healing Fields

and on and on and on

Lows:

The journeys there and back, especially back, horrible horrible horrible. There must be an easier way
Not managing to save myself from sunburn
The heat meaning that I had to rest a lot more and finding shade was hard.
Not being able to find people on a number of occasions
Forgetting some of my tablets and having to go to the medical centre
Not having enough time and energy to see everything

Highlights:
The weather.
Finally getting our group camped together in a spacious field.
Snoop Dogg (never thought I'd say that!)
Stevie Wonder singing Happy Birthday 'to' my friend on her birthday.
My 7 yr old bending a spoon like Uri Geller does, on stage in the circus tent.
My 7 yr old saying she never wants to go home!
Seeing a completely naked old woman happily wandering about the Stone Circle.
The car journeys there and back which were good fun and no traffic jams!

Lowlights:
The horrendous walk from car to camp looking for space, which was only sorted out when we sat in a news van area and refused to leave. I'll be writing a very strong worded letter about this and the lack of info/help from some stewards (not all, the final ones we spoke to were fantastic and a great help).
Having to go home.
Seeing all the rubbish left behind... appalling.
Not being able to afford to go every year.

Driving straight in, no traffic queues on a Wednesday at 5pm!
The weather
The party in my tent on Wednesday night!
Nouvelle Vague (think that's what they were called)
Very late nights/early mornings in Shangri La nearly every night of the festi!
The pole dancers in the Snakepit at Shangri La
My bro providing us with knock your head off cocktails as he was working in a bar!
Staying the night on Monday.

Lowlights:
The litter (I was a volunteer litter picker this year!)
The pushy little fu*kers who nearly trample you to death trying to get to the front of every stage!
The heat (working in the blazing sunshine for six hours straight with no shade is not nice!)
Going home - although it is nice to get into your own bed!
Seeing the almighty mess that everyone left on Monday - very sad!

Highlight - staying up all night to watch the sunrise from the hill in The Park on Saturday morning. The first time I've done that since my teenage years (about 30 years ago). So brilliant I did it again Saturday night too. Was completely knackered on Sunday though.

Not sure if having the usual fab time counts as a highlight but I did! When on duty, everyone (except one twat, see below) was very appreciative of any help or guidance given, there were very few medical incidents and all the glasto hugs I got were lovely (yes, even the drunken scouse lads that gave me a huge hug for simply directing them to the nearest bar)! Off duty, I partied like a punter and may have cuddled the odd steward myself in the haze of cider and ace music.

Lowlight - the football 'fan' who couldn't get in to the West Field to watch the game on Sunday afternoon because he turned up too late and the field was full so he decided to take out his frustration on me, just because I had 'Supervisor' on my tabard and he thought I was in charge of the arrangements. Fortunately, it was only verbal abuse (I was bigger than him which may have been a factor!) but it was so out of character with everything else at the Festival, I was a bit rattled. IMHO, the football should NOT have been shown (and I am a huge football fan) on Sunday out of respect for all the bands and acts whose audiences were reduced as a result. Unfortunately, I told this twat my opinion and he has threatened to report me for my 'attitude'. Hope he doesn't, and if he does, I hope the Festival treat it with the contempt it deserves but I may be asked not to work again if they take a paying punter's word over a volunteer's.

Anyway, to cheer things up after that little rant, one minor incident did not spoil my Sunday night - where else can you go from Toots and the Maytals to Orbital via several bars and in the company of such wonderful people? Fantastic.

By not letting him in the field you did him a huge favour. Sorry he didn't realise this. Hopefully he wont come back as we dont want any of that spoiling the best festival on earth. Glad you managed to enjoy yourself so much inbetween shifts. Toots and the Maytals were great eh ?

Just a small point of clarification, it wasn't me that turned him away. I just happened to be on duty in Dance Village near the entrance to the field where the football was being shown, a point that he couldn't comprehend as he thought the Festival and all its staff should fit in around the football, not the other way round. I don't think he'll be back. Anyway, you are quite right, we try not to let twats like him spoil the atmos for everyone else and I've done an Incident Form so if he does report me, the Festival has my written account of events.

I always enjoy myself before, during and (especially) after each shift, and yeah, Toots and the Maytals were excellent. Dreadzone my musical highlight though.

Watching my mates jaw drop at the size of the place(his first time)
Meeting Newton F for a chat and shake of the hand.
All the bands i got to see
Been able to walk unhindered by mud so got to see a lot more
Shangri La and all the night time stuff going on blew me away.
Getting home and sleeping 16 hours straight after saying i was off for a quick nap

Lowlights

Other than having to wait another year i cant think of any

I want to say i was at the entrance to the football field by the acoustic stage after Slash finished. there was a gut in a german football top mouthing off but the stewards where been just as aggressive back. i will say it could of been handled better, i am sure there is radio communication and all i could hear was stewards say you cant come in, go away, rather than explaining why or trying to find out if there was anywhere else on site that had space to watch or even listen to the match. As it was we left to have a wander and did catch the rest on a radio at one of the stalls. But in no way did it spoil the event for us

I always place the sticker gently on the windscreen so it's only just attached to the window just before joining the queue for the carpark. It makes it so much easier to remove afterwards. This year it had already fallen off the window by the time I got back to the car on Monday.

Some people have reported failing their MOTs because them!

Default Highlights & Lowlights
Well actually on the Sunday when I went to retrieve the rest of my gear it only took 50 mins!! The fact that a few thousand folk were trying to do the same as me at approx 3:10pm on the Wednesday didn't help!!
And another thing I found out was that there are an awful lot of grey coloured cars, so memo to self to leave an identifying mark next time
