The great shewee debate
So, I need convincing - to shewee or not to sheewee.
They look fiddly - do I have to drop my kecks? Tend to wear just below the knee skirts so would be hoicking up I guess.
What are the chances of 'spillage'?
Are there special shewees just for the girls like there are urinals for the boys?
Please advise

Travel John all the way http://www.amazon.co.uk/Travel-John-.../dp/B00395X992
Looked at the Shewee website, and although I'm a fella, it looks a tad difficult..
http://www.shewee.com/newstore/pages/How-to-Shewee.html
The travel johns have some kind of crystal stuff in them that soaks up the wee.. very good!!

There's one dedicated She-Wee urinal - on the Cider bus side of the Pyramid I think - where they give you a disposable cardboard one to try.
I'm a trouser girl, so it was a bit awkward for me. Plus I got 'bashful bladder' and just couldn't go. Tried again later and was not impressed, but then again the card ones are like weeing into a chip cone.
Like that other great feminine produce, the Mooncup, it seems you're either a passionate devotee or loath them.

Is this discussed because the toilet que is miiiiiiiiles long?
One more thing that hasn't got anything to do with this:
I heard that Pennard Hill Ground is the most wanted field to camp in. Does it fill up quickly? And how do we know which gate to use?

Do it! Buy one now and practice in the shower and at home over the toilet. They're brilliant. You might get the odd bit of spillage, though it's unlikely. Urine is sterile anyway and personally I'd rather have a couple of drops of my own pee on me then sit down on the long drops ever again! The dedicated she wee toilets near Pyramid are great. If you're wearing trousers, you don't need to pull them all the way down. I guess with a skirt you just hoick it up at the front and preserve your modesty at the back. Maybe. Try it!

id definitely recommend a shewee! its not as bad to make out and in my practice runs ive had no spillage....depends how much of a wee-er you are, i have kidney problems and i wee like Niagara falls. and the thought of having to actually SIT on a toilet that many times makes me feel scared...haha. id say get one, there only about 8 quid! im sure it'll come in handy at some point

I remember where they are now, me and friend almost went in there last year - think we will give it a go with the 'chip cone' ones to see how we get on.

I have had one for a while and its fantastic. It's quite messy so don't try if your squeemish but its only your own body fluid at the end of the day.
Also need changing less often!!! bit hard to explain to our security guy though when he does a bag check!

I have been practising with various festival clothes. flowing skirts are good, they allow you to keep your modesty. Trousers show a bit of bum
Spillage is probable unless you practice....
Practice tired, practice desperate, practice pissed!!!

She Wees are great, they remove the need for sitting down and you can use that loo that nobody wants to use because someone's peed all over it

We used to go for the ones with a broken lock cos nobody wanted to use them especially for a poo! so they tend to be cleaner. just get a freind to stand outside.

I picked up a leaflet about the mooncup last year and have been contemplating it ever since. I kept thinking, how do I do this at work? Do I have to fiddle around in my twinkle to get it out and then take it to the sink and wash it?
Very good point about brocken loo doors.

Ha! I'm fine with the shewee when practising in the shower but add some clothing and trying to get the right angle and I end up wet every time!! I gave up last year and managed to find a clean loo almost every time I needed it. I have got some bags with absorbant crystals in, just unsure where to use them!!

Ooh- those travel johns look good! Thanks Mandy! Just looked on Amazon, at the 'other things people buy' section -most amused to see all the products advertised as 'new and used'!! I generally take an empty milk bottle and funnel but carrying it to the loo to empty is a pain, the bags look much simpler!

you can leave it in for far longer than anything else........but yes you do need to be near a sink. I work 10 or 11 hour shifts and not had to worry. Also if you go to their website it gives a little video demonstartion (don't worry its not graphic lol)

There is SheWee toilets both sides of the Pyramid, behind the Cider Bus and then the other side of Mandela Bar. My wife has used them every year we have been and never had a problem, and the queues are a lot shorter

Mooncups are amazing, very freeing and much better for the environment and your wallet. They do take a bit of getting used to but are pretty easy once you do. You do need to be next to a sink really which can be annoying but as someone else said you can leave them in for 12 hours or more as long as you're pretty light. You can also get disposable mooncup type things which I realise seems like a contradiction but they work on the same principle and can be left in as long but as you don't need to wash it, it would be more convenient for festivals and the like. It says on the mooncup stuff you can wash them out with a bottle of water if you can't get to a sink which I've never tried but I suppose would work. I just hope and pray to god none of the above will be an issue this year!

Not one for the boys to read really.
I'm due on the Saturday of the festival which is VERY bad timing But I've paid a little visit to the doctor who gave me some tablets to stop it for a few days, I don't really like to do it but this is an exception. Was taken by surpise last year and it wasn't pleasant. Plus I had to pay a small fortune in supplies from outrageously overpriced stalls.
I might give the mooncup a go at some point, we do have a disabled loo at work with a sink in the room.

Nightmare, poor you! Hopefully mine will hold off until Monday... I didn't know you could get stuff from the docs for that, might give it a try. What is it you can get?

Its called norethisterone (I only know that because I have the prescription in front of me) but it does depend on you and hormones and stuff like that, I just went and asked the doctor about it and she knew what I was talking about.
There is also the option of not taking a break from the pill (which I no longer take), that also stops it. But then you do suffer from the period from hell at a later date.

Cool, thanks. I'm not on the pill so that's not an option. I actually work with a doctor so I'll ask her tomorrow what she thinks and if she'll write me a private prescription. I had no idea this was an option, always thought unless you were on the pill you were stuffed. Brilliant! Being on at Glasto is just too horrible to even contemplate. Do you have to take it before you start? How long before if so?

You have to start taking it 3 days before you are due on so obviously helps if you are fairly regular, then stop taking them when you want to and the joy begins.

Reporting back on the Whiz Freedom, only had time to try it once, and completely sober, but no leaks and it just dried instantly. Felt very weird standing though, probably only use it in an emergency. It also squishes up and then goes back into shape, so storage not an issue in some kind of plastic bag. Had to drop the trousers a bit to use it so probably not ideal at a urinal until more practiced or everyone will see my bot (not a pretty sight!) but ideal for use in an unclean toilet.

Nelly, Guidarufino - been taking the norethisterone tab a few times for holidays and Glasto last year. Sods law I'm due the Thurs/Fri again this year
I find them no problems at all - just trying to remember to take them 3 times a day gets a bit tricky sometimes when you been drinking since morning . But even if you miss by half a day or so not a prob
Nearly there now

My colleague's agreed to write me a private prescription so that's that sorted. So are there no side effects of any kind then? Not that it'll make any difference but it'd be good to know.

I've never had any side effects, but i suppose it depends from person to person. (and I didn't get "period from hell" after either )

I explained the incompatability of mooncups and long drop loos to my GP and she helpfully gave me norethisterone, so that's my glasto hassle-free now.
Still not convinced about the shewee concept after trying the cardboard ones just before Kasabian a couple of years ago and having to spend the rest of the evening with a scarf wrapped round my bottom half to disguise huge wet patch !!!

I'm so glad of this thread as I'd never even heard of norethisterone and just thought I was going to have to deal with it. My colleague has kindly written me a prescription so that's that sorted.
I think you just need to practice. I still find it a bit tricky sometimes, it definitely takes longer for the wee to come out compared to a normal wee and I don't always feel like I've got everything out but it beats sitting on the long drops any day of the week!
