Glastonbury A+E
Thought I would extend the ABC and see what sort of injuries accidents we have all had at glasto.
We have been very fortunate and only had a probable broken foot, a ganglion! (google it!) and some sunburn.
The sunburn was caused by falling asleep on the friday and missing all of Bright eyes on the pyramid stage. Finally found the info point for sun cream when it was dark but some lovely ladies did moisturise us
The ganglion was caused by too much dancing.
The suspected broken foot was caused by space cakes and free pints at the brothers bar and still hurts to this day!

I've only been once before, and I got nasty sunburn on my shoulders on the Wednesday. I got it waiting for the shuttle bus and walking to where we ended up collapsing and pitching our tent.
Was fine until Friday in the Dance tent and Example asked everyone to put their arms over their neighbours shoulders. I had some massive guy with his arm over my shoulders jumping up and down

My poor decrepit old knees usually hate me for jumping around too much by Sunday

a fair few chunders and a absolutely mashed back having my not so light mate on my shoulders for pretty much the whole of mgmt last year!
Come to think of it i'm always the one to have people on my shoulders, even complete randomers, last year I just went up to some girl at stevie wonder, said 'hey your going on my shoulders, heres my hat' and up she went! She was very surprised but greatfull no wonder my backs like my dads after glasto :/

Managed to pull a tendon in my foot while putting up my tent last year Handily, I was camping with my cousin who's an osteopath so I was hoping for a quick fix... "You probably need to rest it for a few days cuz" was his advice. Given that we were standing in a field in the middle of the Farm They Call Worthy, this didn't strike me as the most helpful suggestion! For some reason he seemed reluctant to touch my feet...
Didn't cramp my style though, I dance like an idiot even when both feet are fully functioning so there was no outward impact
Never had a hangover though. Not me. Nope. Never happened to me. Not a chance. Don't see how it could happen...

2007 i think it was, woke up one day (dunno which day ) and was stood out side me tent when stinkywitch said "whats that on your knee"
it look like a piece of toblerone was sticking out of the side of me knee
but only hurtt when i touched it
so of i went to the hospital on the farm and was told it was a ganglion. apperntly the old cure was to hit it with a BIG Bible
also might have been the same year, lost half a tooth so went looking for the dentist and ended up watching the cribbs. they were ok didnt find the dentsit tho

not me but a friend took a load of ket and spent the weekend dancing around like an epoleptic monkey. What he didn't realise until he got home is he'd slipped on thurday and broken his ankle and danced all weekend on it. It took a year for it to mend propperly.

The worst sun burn of my life - Wednesday last year. Parked up at 10.30am in the east car parks and queued from our car to the gate finally getting in at 3pm.
Like an idiot I didnt even think to put cream on and just assumed my shoulders were hurting from my rucksack being too heavy. By the Friday morning the blisters were like golf balls sitting on my shoulders. I sat for the entire festivel in the shade or under my umberella with a shawl around my shoulders.
Thankfully my good friend dragged me into the crowd at MGMT on the Sunday and getting very excited smacked her hands down n my shoulders kindly bursting the blisters for me! It was all good from there onwards!! ha ha ha

Errrrrr..........
...Drilled a hole through my finger!
Was setting up the stall on the monday, not quite sober, and with power tools, never a good combo! Was only a 3mm drill bit, and hadn't realised I'd gone all the way through my finger straight away! Went in the finger pad, came out through the nail!!!!
Was fairly painless, medics just wrapped it up and said keep it clean! tho walking round with a big bandage on wasn't a great deal of fun.
For those wanting the full story, including pics! http://glastonbury.festival.2007.googlepages.com/whoops
The gory pic isn't until very bottom of page so you can read the story before clicking pic at bottom to see a close up!

In 2007 we camped next to a family that kept getting rather annoyed with each other and squabbled all the time. Usually about the amount of E's the mum was doing! Anyway one night she was moaning and moaning she didn't feel well. We went to sleep listening to him telling her to shut the fuck up. Finally they shut up. In the morning only dad was about apparently she had a really bad trip and had to be airlifted to the hospital! She was back ond bang on it within hours though! Had a shower and a cup of tea 1st though.

2007, I think it was. Saturday evening, watching Dreadzone start up from outside the dance tent. Chatting to very friendly person with extremely strong spliff. They get a call on their mobile and have to dash to other end of site, but leave spliff behind....
Next thing I know, I'm on my back in deliciously warm mud, with my friend leaning over to see what's just happened. Turned out I'd hit the back of my head on a duckboard or plank or something.
Sobered up on the way to the medic, who basically checked for holes in the head and that my pupils were equally dilated - only problem was getting seriously de-mudded, and having to use my "going home" clothes for my final work shift on the Sunday!
Moral: if you didn't roll it yourself, be very, very careful....

I seem to remember waking up one morning, going outside the tent to find our neighbour fast asleep in a wheelbarrow.
I think he had a very sore head and had somehow hurt himself the night before.
Clearly he had decided he was unable to go a few feet further to sleep in the tent, so crashed in the wheelbarrow (which had a broken leg on it), instead.
I can't remember what he did (to hurt himself) but it was very funny. I took a picture (we'd made friends with them), but somehow lost the picture while we were there

Touch wood I've been really lucky and not injured myself so far at Glastonbury. Apart from the Friday last year when I got sun burn and nearly sun stroke. I was at Pyramid from 11am for Rolf onwards with no shade. I didn't start feeling it until around 3pm when I had to collapse on the floor and lie in the only shade available which was someone's camping chair. I had to strip down to my very short shorts and bra * and have people throw cold water all over me. It was a close call but I came round eventually. I managed to find some pure aloe vera for the sunburn which I still have to this day and always reminds me of Glastonbury.
* Yes there is a picture of this on Facebook!
This year I'm taking factor 30 and a huge floppy sun hat!

my girlfriend collapsed 5 minutes before Muse were due to start on Pyramid stage 2005. We were bang smack in the middle in front of the sound desk. She was out cold for what seemed like ages. Very worrying and scary. Although people around us were very good, it was very difficult to get her out. Thankfully she was ok, and thankfully we saw Muse a couple of weeks later at T in the Park
