Default The Glastonbury 2010 weather thread
Well, someone had to start one

The first forecast of the season looks promising temperature wise, but a bit iffy with the rain.

Quote:
"There will be stifling temperatures, making it possibly the warmest UK summer on record and placing it at least in the top three warmest summers recorded."
........
"June will start fine, followed by rain in the middle of the month, with changeable conditions and heavy rain in time for Wimbledon fortnight."

Its perfectly possible the flight ban may last far longer than expected.

While its true ' the wind direction will change ' its also true that it may change back again.

Its also possible that it may affect UK based groups as well because their equipment may be spread all over the place.

Time will tell but no matter what happens provided I don't drop down dead I will still be working at Glasto this year.

Just another thing we have to take into consideration - it may be perfect weather but some bands we are looking forward to seeing may get stuck outside the UK.

Better contact my mate at Northern Electric who lends me wellies. Be warned tho, they have steel toe caps so dont spill my cider . LOL

As long as the sun comes out between showers we'll be ok - not that its going to rain of course

Met Office, Shmet Office

"the Met Office hedged its bets"
I bet they do, they seem to stuggle to correctly predict tomorrows weather let alone weeks in advance.

I reckon we be better off gathering in the stones and doing a mass sundance every evening, man

from the met office today:

UK Outlook for Saturday 19 Jun 2010 to Monday 28 Jun 2010:

The coming weekend and into the beginning of the new week, it should remain largely dry for most areas of the UK, with variable cloud and sunny periods. The exception being some occasional cloud and light rain at times in the far north, and isolated light showers in eastern parts, perhaps extending to other areas for a time by mid-week. It'll feel warm in any prolonged sunshine, especially further south and west in light winds. Temperatures should be near or above normal, though cooler on northern and eastern coasts with a fresh northeasterly breeze. It may turn a little more unsettled for most parts later next week and into the weekend, mainly for the north and west, with spells of rain or showers. Temperatures remaining near or slightly above normal.

I like the Guardian / Met office forecast, that'll do. I've just looked at this one http://www.positiveweathersolutions....y-Festival.php these are the welsh weather watchers who everyone is hailing as the more accurate forecasters, which I hope they aren't at the moment becuase they mention the 'R' word.

How so many different websites can have so many different forecasts I don't know.

We can live in hope.

How can they called themselves 'positive' when they mention the R word. I think that front will slow down over the Atlantic and arrive after we have all left ..

Hmm good point. If we're all positive enough maybe it will keep the 'R' away

The Positive Solutions site - http://www.positiveweathersolutions....y-Festival.php has updated it's forecast.
It now says...

Quote:
Glastonbury Festival
Wednesday June 23rd to Sunday June 27th 2010

Looking settled for the duration of the event, dry with sunny spells, and temperatures in the late teens, early 20's.

Assistant Forecaster
