Problem is that if you put the stage higher you then have to put the crowd further back (otherwise you can't see if you're at the front). I agree about he higher screens though - did anyone see U2 from the back and think they worked better?
And following on from the general litter comments - why are there no bins around the stone circle?!

Stop discriminating against us tall folk! You shorties should take a stool or some steps to stand on, as you can't expect us tall folk to carry a spade and dig a hole to stand in!

I was actually next to a girl around the age of 8 I'd say, who was stood on something at U2.
Was bloody annoying, I can understand why she was on it, but in that crowd you very rarely manage to stand in one spot the whole time, you just end up moving as the crowd moves/dances etc. That girl ended up leaning on me so much, I got so fed up with it. I didn't want to make a point by moving away in case she fell off, I didn't want to "accidentally" elbow her cause I don't really think hurting 8 year olds is a very nice thing to do.. etcetc
What was even more annoying was her parents had so much space, and yet she wasn't leaning on them!

I would REALLY have appreciated a few more places to sit down on the site - some more wooden benches here and there would have been greatly appreciated! Its hard to carry around chairs all day long, and the odd few minute rest on a bench would have felt so great!!

Another reason why I prefer West Holts to the other main arenas. Tons of benches to sit on there.

It was my first Glasto, but my gripe was all the flipping chairs left during the headliners. If only people would pack their chair up when they stand and dance, so that those of us trying to get out can do so without falling over in the mud trying to climb over them!

Wasn't the 'festival firelighter' the daily paper that replaced this? Never actually saw one so can't make a comparison.

Festival Flyer nowhere as good as the Q Daily. It lacked something. (I read it everyday online as I wasnt lucky with a ticket this year)

yeah they had the festival firelighter but it was one A4 piece of paper not up to the standard of Q daily.

Most of the content of the firelighter could have been written a week before the festival. There was a very interesting article on how there are so few black people at the festival, and most of those are on stage or serving food. Glastonbury and mustic fests in general are still very white and quite middle class.
But I digress. The thing that was great about the Q Daily was the photos, the reports of stuff that wasn't in the main programme and the rumours/sightings of special guests. The Firelighter had none of those.

there is a dedicated litter crew who work that field, they normally start after dawn and clear the feild. There are no bins there because to collect the rubbish from teh bins needs a tractor and a trailer and that would churn the feild up and ther are no vehicles allowed during festival time.

Q mag have down sized there sponsership from the festival due to the ressision.
Also if you look carefull at the Q paper from previos years, 90% of it was written before the festival.
The only pressence Q had this year was the review.

Pretty much agree with all of the above..
HAving our tent on Row Mead on the pyramid field we saw first hand the state of the pyramid field each morning.. Got worse each day, Monday was the worst I have EVER seen it, even worse that after The Who in 2007 (which was pretty bad but that night it did piss down constantly).
My main gripe this year was the quality of the punters. Definitely more of the unsavoury people around and more ignorami (hope that is grammatically correct). Personally I feel this is down to the booking this year of more Charty acts and hence bringing more of the mainstream sheep-like zombies. Maybe I am getting old and grumpy but it would be nice for Glasto to get back to it's roots a bit more and by that merit bringing with it the true Glasto fans. With a bit of luck, all the precious people who didn't like the mud won't be back either. Hopefully that will also reduce the leftover tent count as these same sort of people just don't get what Glasto is about.
Apologies if I sound judgemental and stereotyping but having been to Glasto many times and also living local and appreciating what it does, I do get offended when people take everything there for granted and then bitch and moan because they got a small speck of mud on their blanket.
Perhaps this year we all felt the festival wasn't quite as good but then it did give itself a bloody hard act to follow with such a blinder that was 2010.
I have faith that the Festival will get it's mojo back again. It has done before, hence why we all come back year after year.
