Default Get on your bike, get your own camping field

We're very pleased to announce the launch of some new initiatives to encourage Festival-goers to come to this year's Glastonbury by bicycle, as part of our new Green Traveller campaign. As well as reducing their carbon footprint and avoiding being stuck in car traffic queues, anyone who does arrive on their bike will get several benefits, including a free lock-up and an allocated campsite just for cyclists.

Plus, of course, like anyone arriving at this year's Festival by public transport, they'll get a Green Traveller card which gives discounts on food and T-shirts, as well as exclusive access to solar showers and compost toilets.

Even better, if you're in Bristol or one of 30 towns within 20 miles of the site, you'll be able to join an organised ride and have your luggage delivered to the Festival.

For full information, head over to our Arriving by Bike section.

i thaught everyone got access to free lockups.

I will suggest that even if you arrive by car, you stick a couple of bikes on the back and use them to carry stuff onto site you can bennift from this.

Yup, lock-ups are free for all and dotted over the festival. Am guessing that cyclists benefit from a dedicated one in their dedicated field and this will be where the ones having their luggage delivered will be able to collect it from? Though looking at what it says on the webpage it mentions you can access your bikes between 8am & 8pm to explore the area around the festival but weirdly aren;t allowed to take them in the festival? Huh?

I've taken a bike on the back of the campervan for a few years now, really helps with taking stuff on & off site and around the fest. Got a couple of panniers for wet weather stuff etc and the ability to go through the 'wide-loads' entrence on the gates is a great bonus! Only thing is if it does get really muddy you do lose any advantage as the wheels do clog up with mud and the straw they use to soak it up.

So, are bikes not permitted at all on the festival this year, or is it just not permitted for the people that cycle there? seems a bit weird to me!
