Default Family campervan
Is there a family campervan/caravan field? I have booked east field due to proximity to kids area. I will be 6 months pregnant and taking 2 children hopefully in a caravan but cannot find out if there is a family campervan field.

Pretty sure that they (campervan areas) are not designated as "family" or not-think it's just East or West. Enjoy

Ok thanks, do you know if west or east is easier to walk to? Being 6 months pregnant and with 2 little ones I am wondering which would have been better to go to?

Default family camping area
We have always used the east area for campervans and they have always asked if we wanted to go into the family area, so i'm sure they do designate a special area for families. as you may have seen staying in the east area involves going up and down the big hill to get in and out of gate C, so i dont think it will be good for you to go there - really it is abit like the 'hill of death' that is gets called. i've not used the west area but i would suggest you change or get another ticket for your caravan, i think the longer walk through the site will be easier than going up and down that hill! Good luck whichever you choose

There is a family area but it fills up pretty fast so get there early.

We are a family and tend to park on the East side, however, you may be better in the family field on the west side as it is longer but on the flat rather than the "hill of death" on the way back up to the family campervan field

thanks, thinking I may have purchased the wrong side! Have you taken young children in? how did they cope with the distance from the east into the site? how long approx in? did you always get a spot in the family field? what day would you suggest going to get a spot? do you know if they definitely have a family field on the west side? do you know approx how long to kids field from the west? Approx time/distanceinto the main site? Agghh questions questions... I have been to Glastonbury a few times so am aware of the size, it will just be my first with children/pregnant and going in the campervan fields, so a little apprehensive of walking long distances, myself and children becoming tired. I obviously purchased the tickets before being pregnant!! Is the west quieter/less queue congestion than the east? Also do you know if caravans/campervans are separate or together? Is the hill of death truly awful? I have read some people have said it is not that bad. (being optimistic..) I am thinking if it is wet it might be a tad dangerous as I will be 6 months pregnant. Apologies for barrage of questions, I am truly at a loss at which side to go in as I did want to be near the kids field and have less walking but I do not want to risk safety with being pregnant.

This will be my first year in a campervan so I can't respond from personal experience but hope this helps:-

I think I'm right in saying that the family campervan fields are the closest to Gate C and therefore less than a 10 minute walk. Some of the other fields on the east side are quite a hike however. But once you're through the gate you're less than 5 minutes from the Kids Field.

As others have said the family fields are popular so get there Tuesday if you possibly can.

Quote:

The west fields were new last year and there's only 2 of them (1,000 vans max as opposed to 4,500 in the East) so I'd be surprised if there was a designated family area over there.

It's a long hike. The West campervan fields do have their own designated Gate but from there it's a good 20-30 minutes walk to the Kids Field even without a large bump & kids in tow.

All the campervan fields are reckoned to be fairly quiet although you may get some late night noise from Shangri La etc in the Eastern Fields closest to this area.

As far as I know they are all lumped in together although I'll leave it for others to confirm.

It's really not that bad although you might disagree if you're having to slog up there with a pushchair in 6 inches of mud every night.

All in all I'd say you're better off heading for the East. Much closer to the Kids Field.

the top of the eastside campervan site is approx 40 mins walk to the pyramid stage as we were right at the top of the hill at the back so anything closer is better but dont be taken in by how big this hill is ...its not as bad as most make out preggaz or not...fat people can get up it so youll have no probs
