Question Day Trippers
Hi everyone!

After many years of trying I have finally succeeded in persuading the old man and his wife to come to Glastonbury this year. However, they have insisted on booking a B&B (roughly 9 miles from the festival) for Thursday through to Monday and travelling to the site early each morning by car .

Has anyone had any experience of doing this? If so was it much of a hastle getting in and out of the car parks on daily basis (wait times etc...)?

Any help / advice is much appreciated.

Cheers!

It won't be too much hassle driving on & off the site each day as the vast majority of punters will be camping but they will almost certainly be parked in some of the outlying car parks and it's anything up to a mile walk to & from the gates each day from some of those. Personally I'd try to disuade them unless camping is a real impossibility.

tort is right. I live 25 minutes drive from site, and went home each night when my son was a baby. The 9 miles to and from the B&B will be no problem, nor will getting in and out of the car parks. However, getting from the car to the main stages can easily be 30-45 minutes, and 15 minutes more at night when you're knackered from walking round all day.

The other factor is Glasto-lag. It's a bit like jet-lag in that there is a time-zone change. At Glasto, breakfast is usually about 12 noon (washed down with mulled cider) and bedtime is about 6am Will the B&B fit in with this?

Cheers for the replies guys. I was so concerned that my Dad would be waiting in long lines of traffic for hours on end that I completely forgot about the walk from the car park to the festival!! I've tried to pursuade them that a tent would be the best option but I think I'm hitting a brick wall. Maybe when I mention it's a 45 minute walk into and out of the festival each day they may change thier minds

The B&B is quite relaxed about returning in the small hours so that should be ok.

Cheers again for the info and hope you's have a great festival

What about mentioning a caravan or motorhome to them ? Its quiet enough to get a good night's sleep yet right next to site . Just a thought.

If you add in if its wet driving in and out every day is not easy { and lets face there has been some really wet ones } + of course if they are driving that screws up drinking

It will be more trouble than its worth

Hey everyone. I compared the prices for a caravan against a B&B and there isn't a great deal of difference! I'll give this option a go tonight. I've been there in the rain and it was hard enough just walking around never mind trying to park a car!!

Cheers again people!
