Default Camping advice please
Hi, we should be arriving at the festival at around 4.30pm on the wednesday and trying to work out where best to camp. Ideally we want to go straight for Pennard but worried that it might be full at that time, any advice? Also is that field prone to flooding?

It's a hill so it won't flood, and the drainage has been improved there anyway. It will be busy there, depends how big your tent is really

2 man tent, just me and my bird reckon we should risk it then? Don't want to arrive there then have to leave and walk across the entire camp site again!

You might need to squeeze in a tiny space but it should be ok I reckon

You would have struggled to have got a 2 man tent on Pennards much after 3pm last year. Don't forget a lot of us Williams & Dragon Field refugees head there nowadays plus a large chunk at the bottom of the field is a crew compound. I'd suggest you either arrive earlier or look elsewhere.

By the time we got in at Gate D last year on the Wednesday morning (we were in the car park from about 2AM), we were so hot & bothered we decided to just set up the tent at Bushy Ground. Although it's a hike to almost everywhere from there it turned out a great bit to camp. Lots of room even though half of it was shut off for the footbal field, on top of a hill so no flooding if it does rain & not far to walk from/to car. Not so good if you want to party all night tho

Pennards may very well be full when you get there, although if your happy to weave in and out of all the tents you may just find enough room to squeeze your 2 man tent in. Dont camp on the flat at the bottom though in 2005 it flooded so badly the tents were completely submerged in water and they had boats and divers checking all the flooded tents it was mental!! I believe they have made serious drainage changes now though so flooding like that shouldn't happen again. We always camp on pennards, we love it Any chance you could get there a little earlier? give you a bit more of a chance to get a spot.

where ever you end up camping, have a fab time

Sorry but zero chance. By the time you get to the site, queue for the carparks and again at the gates it'll be early afternoon at best and Pennards was already chocabloc by that time last year.

Park and Dairy fill up less quickly if you want to be south of the tracks. Oxylers / Dance should have space but I wouldn't recommend it with the amount of rain they've had down there.

I second Tort on avoiding Oxylers / Dance in a wet year... I made that mistake just once...
