Default Campervan field
Hi Guys,

This is our first ever Glastonbury and we have managed to travel down with some friends in their Campervan. We had intended to camp as there isnt the room to sleep in there with them.

Is this going to be an issue in the campervan field if we pitch up next to them?

Cheers

In a word - no . You are allowed to put up a tent behind your campervan

there was an issue last year the stewards said not to put a teant up in the campervan fields as it takes up room for other vans ...tbh the whole point of campervan passes are the plot to park not to pitch tents cos if this was the case i could fill my camper with all my mates and put 10 tents up in the camper field!.....do you think they would say anything? i think they might.

Only going on past experience of the last 2 years when we (and lots of other people) have had a tent next to the campervan with no problems. But yes if you put up 10 tents its gonna be an issue..

Thanks guys, we will risk it. The tent is only small and takes up less room than a car would if pulling a caravan. If we get asked to move we are going early enough (Tuesday night) we will have space and time to move it.

Have a good one!

Of course - after the first couple of times of trekking all the way in and all the way out again, you may decided to move the tent anyway....

I had an email back from the Glastonbury office about whether I could take a car in with my van (you can't) and they confirmed that you can pitch a tent behind your van provided the two together don't take up more room than the pitch size. Can't remember how big that is but unless your van is massive, you'll be fine. And in practice, they don't even enforce the whole "behind rather than next to" rule in my experience. Just don't take the piss and you'll be fine. Welcome to the campervan posse!
