it depends which camper van field you will be in. Have never seen the West Camper van parks which I think are relatively new, but the main campervan fields are on the east side (Blue route). The only thing I can tell you about the east campervan fields is that they are outside of the fence and so you will need your ticket with you every time you go in and out of the festival site, accessible through gate C , after which you will have to conquer the infamous 'hill of death'. A rather steep hill leading up to the campervan fields, which is extremely tiring at the end of a long day, and treachourous if it's wet.
My guess would be that the West one's are probably better (Gate E) but I don't have any experience of these, and as there are only two fields, I assume they will fill up pretty quickly. I'm sure someone will be adding further advice soon
See attached Map. West campervan fields are W61 & W62
Eastern one's are E 13 - E24

A lot depends on when you get there, or if you have a family with you, never been in the west fields but the walk into the site (albeit flat) looked miles and with nothing to break it up, at least with East field and the hill of death once you are onsite you are right in the thick of it.

Hi I have only ever stayed in east fields 16/17 lest year go there on tues night and ended up in east 16. Only problem was hill of death however alittle stop at the top gives a fantastic viewpoint over the whole festival site. Also the queue to get on to site can be big at times. But that's where we will be again this year and the toilets are mostley clean.

Having weighed up the options we are choosing the West this year just purely because of the "Hill"-done a similar hill last year and it's not much fun when mangled at 3 in the morning!

I have been Campervaning since 2000 and love the good nights sleep (Dry)as for the hill of death it is not bad as you will not be carrying tents ect like most people, PM me nearer the time and I will give you some tips that I would not want to make too public

The "Hill of Death" is no big deal if you're not carrying all your gear up & down it. Kit's much older & more out of shape than you so if he can do it I'm sure you can!

There was a very useful post last summer - I've not worked out how to link to an individual reply, but it gave very good and concise advice: search on dogs gaffer tape and hippies, then scroll down from the top of the second hit....

One year, I cant remember which, they had teams of security searching vans on arrival and random police searches throughout the weekend, however that was in the past and it has been a lot better since.
One thing to be mindful of is the security searches as you go in and out of the gate, they go for stereotypes in their random searches so if you look (in their minds) like someone that might be carrying they will stop you, I have never once been stopped.

Only got searched once last year and I had gone way past where all the staff were and was just about to enter the barriered line to show my ticket when I got a tap on the shoulder - they drew a blank tho !!
For anyone interested, the search involves emptying any bags you have, taking off your hat and emptying your pockets. You then get patted down but not intrusively. I think if you get arsey or look nervous they may go further. Best to smile and chat and accept they are only doing their job ....

although that sounds plausible the only way that will work is if whatever is put into the bag within a active Clean Room as its near impossible to keep the outside from being contaminated.
Drug smugglers will vacuum pack their consignment and will insert baby wipes or whatever to try and mask the smell but most drug dogs will still not be tricked.
At the end of the day - its all a matter of luck.

we get searched ALL the time. We have never had any trouble with security (they have never found anything though) As Mart44 said just let them do their job and they in turn will let you enjoy your festival.

Defiantly no fires in the Campervan fields, lots of petrol in vans waiting to explode, there are fire watch look out towers all around so you will be seen.

We used the West Camper fields last year. There are pros and cons but overall we are going back to The East.
Pros
Right by the entrance to the site. Flat. Less vans so loos are cleaner on the whole.
Cons
The walk from the entrance is long, very long and passes through camps of tents. Must be latecomers because not the best place to camp.
If you are comin in from the A303 no good as on the other side of the festival when you leave adds 20 miles to your journey.
