Since you'e coming by public transport you qualify for a "green Traveller" wristband, which apparently gets you access to showers and other lovelyness.
Where to camp - Depends whether you want a quieter place to kip (Lime Kiln, or Dairy), somewhere close to everything (Oxliers/Kidney Mead), or where apparently everyone wants to go (Penard).
Getting arround - Everyone says it, because it's true. Glastonbury is BIG! you'll be doing a lot of walking. And you'll probably get lost, or at least distracted, a few times. Go with it, wander about and don't restrict yourself to only the bits that you think you'll like - you might be a dance-music nut, but that doesn't mean you have to never leave the Dance Village.
Smile, and chat to people - it's a strange Glasto phenomenon that people seem to be more up for randomly engaging with you there.

OK first things first... Welcome
Second, are you sitting comfortably? Then settle down with a cuppa and read through this http://www.glastoearth.com/ The FAQs are comprehensive. I even sent a link to a friend in Australia who has no interest in going and she said, "Now I understand what it is you do every year"! Put together by Tort, one of the regulars on here, and probably the best single online resource for Glastonbury! Invaluable!
Thirdly, come along at 2.00 on the Thursday to West Holts and join the Glastowatch meet where you'll meet lots of the regulars from here more than willing to share advice and pints
Glasto on your own is a different experience than Glasto with friends, but one of the best I've had, 2008, I went on my own. I met so many amazing people and had so many great experiences. I went with the mentality of "I'll be more of an observer this year, take my camera and experience it that way, not get stressed out about being on my own" but ended up getting more involved in the festival than I ever have, including spending the whole of Sunday night hanging out with some of the musicians I'd seen the night before!
One thing I can promise you, you're going to love it!
See you there, be sure to come over and introduce yourself!

Tort, you should have a plaque at all the entry fences paid for by the glasto team. Your guide has helped countless!
