OK, now we are all back from the mud and the heat, anyone fancy sharing their best couple of moments from the weekend.

Have to say that I think being up the front for U2 was awesome, and getting to meet the living legend Dwayne Eddie at West Holts was incredible.

Thanks to all that were involved with the festival, as usual it was amazing.

I'm just home myself, what a weekend! We watched the first half of the chemical brothers gig which was immense and then made our way to the Unfairground to catch the secret fatboy slim gig. It was out of this world, the crowd loved it and he loved it. We then managed to meet Jarvis Cocker in Shangrai La and he did a secret gig in Club Dada straight after the fatboy slim one.

First time at glasto and had the time of my life, the mud didn't put any sort of dampener on the week at all!

First glasto, one of the best experiences of my life.
DJ Shadow blew my mind, can't quite decide whether Laura Marling or Queens of the stone age come 2nd. DJ Yoda also brilliant. Me and girlf were witnesses for a lesbian wedding. Arcadia at night was such an awesome spectacle, clubbing and music will never be the same again.
Cheers for a fantastic festival, counting down the days until 2013.

Well my first ever glasto done. all i can say is it was fecking awesome.

Best moments well as you can imagine there was a few.

Arriving Thursday seeing the site for the first time thought i was going to wet myself

setting up our camp in a record 23 mins

My first brother at the west holts has to be the best cider ever tasted

meeting up with family who took me up the hill and would not let me turn around til i was at the top to see the site in all its glory left me speachless

music wise, newton faulkner, bright eyes, fleet foxes, mumford and sons, bfl, eels and pulp rocked my world

finding out my wellies didnt not leak, finding hurly burly and watching the waitresses dancing and the wall of death was the dogs danglies.

the SUN

Bad points being that fooked i forgot about the GW meet up. busting my knee on the thursday evening and dragging it through the mud for a few days.

thanks for all the tips guys it really helped my total experience.

see ya all in 2013

Long, long journey home but how can 5 great days in a bloody field go so quickly?

Highlights musically: QOTSA were awesome & showed that you can have all the lights & props etc you want but you can't beat a great live rock band on top form. Patrick Wolf was a happy bunny on stage for a change & it was a bit of a musical change from the excellent Pulled Apart By Horses before him. Have to admit that Hercules & The Love Affair was fun at West Holts

Went along to Arcadia for the Spider waking up on Saturday night which was pretty special but couldn't believe the amount of people walking to it on the railway track. Does anyone know how long people were waiting at the night time entrance?

Well, best bits:

The view of the site from top of the aptly named "hill of death" (nearly killed us on several occasions)
Meeting up with people from a facebook group I joined and Glastowatch Forum members, this made us feel so much more a part of the whole thing.
The view from the viewing area on thursday evening at sunset, amazing!
Bright Eyes followed by Fleet Foxes on the other stage, cheered us up in the rain
Coldplay
Laura Marling & Paul Simon on Sunday and watching Raghu Dixit at Leftfield right up the front and dancing away!
The lovely cafe in croissant neuf, wet, cold and tired but had a lovely warming cup of soup and a tea to raise our spirits
Kool & The Gang at West Holts - words cannot describe how good it was

Worst bits: The mud and the rain on Friday, missing Pulp (gutted!) and MrBee getting a swollen knee (from the heavy slog on Friday) on Saturday which meant we missed most of the day Oh, and the toilets of course

We actually got told that it was Pulp about 3 weeks before the festival but wasn't able to share the news. (if we had we wouldn't have been trusted with extra news in fore coming years, sorry)

We was fit too burst and it was so hard to keep it a secret.

After knowing it was to be Pulp I still missed it. And I couldn't get into The Park on Friday either after a long slog thru the mud. But that apart, highlights were BB King, Dreadzone, and one of the most stunning performances I have ever seen from Marcus Bonfanti. Elbow in the sun on Sat were perfect too.

Best bits -

Finishing putting the tent up 2 mins before it started pissing it down with rain
Going to west holts field to meet all yous lot on here and ending up having a 2 hour conversation with 2 brothers called stu and ste who have been to 24 festivals and listening them tell all these stories about their antics
Spending most of the night with random people rather than my mates
Don Mclean sitting on the hill in the sun
Elbow - total surprise act, thought I hated them, ended up loving every minute
Mumford and sons, knew all the words to all their old songs

Worst bits -

Having a single wellie and a single walking boot stolen on different days, nothing disastrous but just slightly annoying
Breaking the camera
Busting my lip on a mallet on the Tuesday, a lot of blood but not that much pain

Highlights
Pulling up in the car park and discovering the people in the very next car were Stinkywitch, Whatme and their nephew! They came from Manchester, we came from London, we'd never met before but were planning to meet and we end up parking next to them...! Totally worth the entrance fee for the look on Stinky's face when we said, "Are you Stinky?"
The whole of Tuesday night in the car park, meeting up with our friends Geoff, Rhi and Laurence and sharing a few bottles of fizz.
Thalis from the Thali Cafe in the park
Meeting all the lovely GlastoWatch peeps. A lovely afternoon - what a lovely lot you are!
Our lovely badges!! Thanks Stinky!!
Hobbit's tequila!
The interactive wall in the Synthetic Garden. Bill, you guys excelled yourselves this year!
The Table of Truth. If any of our fellow citizens read this, it was one of the most enjoyable hours of all my Glastonburys! And Lou and I really weren't lying!!
Emmy the Great () being joined by Emma's boyfriend, Tim Wheeler of Ash, for a rousing version of The Pixies' Where is my Mind?
Guillemots' beautiful, beautiful performance of Sao Paolo - brought a hefty tear to my eye
The Dentist Game with three lovely ladies and a box of wine
U2 - it is a measure of the greatness of this festival that it left Bono, of all people, awestruck, but once they'd warmed up... what a show!
Dreadzone. All of it. Every bouncing, dubbing, bloody wonderful awesome second of the whole damn set...
Elbow. All of it! Just every single second of it. But One Day Like This especially!
Spider in Arcadia followed by Orbital DJ set - as someone has already said, clubbing will never be the same again!!!
Taking a photo from the top of the Big Ground and just about replicating a photo a mate of mine took when we went in 1981
Paul Simon - can't remember a time when I didn't know his music, a true legend and a humble one at that (my favourite kind!)
Eels, That Look You Gave That Guy. The tears just flowed...
John Cooper Clarke. Saw him do Beasley Street in '81; saw him do Beasley Boulevard in '11. Perfect.
Queens of the Stone Age. A masterclass in how to do it (wit chu). The last two songs were the most spine tingling of the weekend
Wombling on Monday and coming home with 4 cans of cider and 34 cans of beer!
Seeing myself on iPlayer during Eels' set!

Lowlights
Picking up an obscure Glastonbury injury during QotSA, preventing me from having a dance to Jon Bingly Bongly (I'm never going to tell you... you're never going to want to know)
Seeing Emmy the Great () with her boyfriend Tim Wheeler from Ash
The rain on Friday night - it was just a bit too much
The state of the campsite on Monday. A complete, utter disgrace and utterly disheartening.
Realising that it's two whole years until the next moment of bliss...

What my other half said...

Plus the lovely food, and finding out that Glastonbury is still amazing even in the mud (albeit more exhausting moving around - keep the momentum going in the suction mud or get stuck...)!

Have to say I'm probably less bothered that Emma has a boyfriend than my other half is!

As for lowlights - as above, the mess that people leave behind. You certainly see the best of humanity at Glastonbury - so much love, warmth, beauty, friendliness, helpfulness and happiness. You also see the worst of humanity - the lazy, wasteful, selfish, disrespect of people who think it's just fine to leave all their rubbish behind for someone else to clear up. It's very depressing to see.

Highs: Surviving a muddy one I was dreading it, seriously, seriously dreading it, but apart from being a bit of a pain in the arse at times, it was easily coped with in the end, and now I can officially say I've done a muddy Glasto
Seeing a huge gang of mates at the cider bus, it's always great to catch up with them
Hanging out with my fabby mates
PULP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bimbling around tat shopping on sunny Sunday afternoon
Wall of Death - OMG! I've seen it on telly before but jeez, you don't get the full effect until you see it for real!
Primal Scream in the lashing rain
Wandering up the Kidz field and being amazed at how it's even more colourful than the rest of the festival
Meeting mates at the pub pre-fest

oh yeah, and...... QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE I got to the barrier and everyfing Had to almost dislocate my shoulder to get into the tiny space I found, but they soon gave me a little more space when I started jumping around and headbutting the air Best show yet I've seen by them

Lows: Rain stopping play a bit, I wanted to go to the healing fields on Friday night but the rain was so heavy I couldn't face it
My phone going a bit weird, then completely dying on me. Tried charging it at a stall in the green fields, but it wasn't having any of it. Weirdly, it charged fine when I got to the B&B, but I think the guys at the stall have bent the pin inside the charge socket, as it kept disconnecting
Not being able to meet up with people because I was without a phone
My friend losing all her money and ending up in a bit of a mess.

But all in all, I am still madly in love with the festival and I'm gutted that we have to wait another two years to do it again. What are we gonna do people????

Getting butterflies just coming into the car park to be honest love the it all, and i think i was bit more chilled this year since i knew what to expect - tried to take it in it's stride!

Music wise for me - Vaccines (fab), Biffy (love them), Morrissey (legend), Elbow (such a surprise, what a lovely guy/band ) and COLDPLAY (been with them from the start - dream come true)

And not least West Holts Stage - ended up there Sat and Sun afternoon just enjoying the different tunes (Omar the Syrian Mega Star ) and having my first and free Brothers - Toffee Apple (I want more!!!!) and at last the Goan Fish Curry (Food Heaven)

Low Point - Not seeing U2 - to drunk to remember (sorry all the people I was annoying, get very "huggy" when drunk ) and then getting lost with hubby for 3 hours traipsing around the very big/long Glasto fence trying to find Pennard Hill Gate to get up to camp site (that is the ultimate Hill of Death )

Note to self for two years time - make sure i got Mon-Wed off after festival since I was to consious about having to be back at work to enjoy Sunday properly............

Love to all..... will make the meet in 2013 - Roll On!!!

Music
Primal Scream - Probably my highlight and we were really close to the front.
Chemical Brothers - Also a contender for my fave.
Radiohead - If only I'd listened to King of Limbs more.
RSVP - Learning bhangra on a Saturday morning was a great hangover cure.
Stonefield - My GF recommended them. Wow. An Aussie girl four piece. The drummer was also the vocalist, and how she could sing like that AND play drums was insane.
Paul Simon - Excellent, even if I've now got a badly sunburnt, peeling nose.

Food
Goan fish curry - West Holts was gorgeous
Chicken satay - West Holts was probably my fave
Carribean curry - Some random stall near the Circus fields also tasty.
Sausages & potatoes from Le grand Bouffe. Mmmmmmnnnnn.
Ration pack meals in the tent - For a tenner, you get a ridiculous amount of quality food. Even a micro bottle (plastic) of Tabasco sauce.

Oddities
The Wall of Death - Heart was in my mouth. The blonde was fine too.
Sneaking into the Shangri La decontamination bit on the Sunday and being the very last people allowed in.
The Arcadia Spectacular - Loved the lightning tesla coil & the flames.
The puppet show in the Unfairground - Was really weird & dark.
The Great Dave - 10ft Unicycling, juggling, cup throwing buffoon. Loved him.
Managing not to fall over in the mud once!!!

Probably getting arrested after throwing a smoke bomb at the militant wanker vegetarian that is morrissey, having a good laugh with the cops about me being a political prisoner, before having my hand shook by all the staff responsible for whether I was allowed re-entry for being a hero.

Sitting on the hill in the sun watching pulp was amazing, but it would be unfair to pick out just one of the acts, I saw some amazing performances and some wonderful sights, I can honestly say I wasn't bored from start to finish.

Overall though the whole festival was one of the best things I have ever done and despite feeling so ill today I cant wait to go back in 2 years. I just cant believe its taken me so long to go!

Ooooh-
I waited for 2 acts in the Park to see PULP! got to the barrier and stayed there! The whole ticket price was worth it just to see them!!
I too knew they were def on as the lady I work with is a friend of their agent and had told me before!
Paul Simon- he was due to play on Monday at one of the 2 places I work but I couldn't be there so had to see him. I was up dancing around in the sun with a strawberry cider in hand- hadn't realised how much great music he had made! By the Monday he had a bad throat and cancelled the Bournemouth gig!
Patrick Wolf! My daughter loved him about 5 years ago and made me listen to him A LOT! he was fab!
The Wombats- really great fun pop.
Go Team- with a Goan fish curry and some hot sun!
Have to say- although it pains me as I really wanted to see QOTSA- I wanted a big finish after the rain so went to see Beyonce instead! She was amazing!! I don't even listen to her and sang along to about 80% of the songs. Loved it!!
Oh- and Pendulum- how can a band be a dance act yet be so heavy at the same time??

Bad bits- obv, the mud- it stopped me whizzing around to all those little stages to pick up stuff I wouldn't normally see.
The 2 hour wait at the Park on Friday to see whoever and it was Radiohead- 1. I don't know any of their new stuff. 2. I realised after staying for the whole set- I actually found them boring! (sorry!)
The drug fuelled Other stage during Chemical Bros made me feel REALLLY out of place! Should have done Coldplay!
The walk back to West car parks Sunday lunchtime- went to gate D by mistake when A was nearer. Missed loads too.
My son's tent being raided when he was asleep- luckily they found nothing.
The terrible state I got into when I couldn't poo from Thursday to Sunday! Made me bloody miserable I can tell you!

Having said all that I will be uploading a new photo soo and waiting for October 2012 to buy those tickets!!!

Gee, thanks for sharing! (matched my '84 record. Hats off to you)

I would have gone to see Beyonce but couldn't have missed QotSA and have to report to you that it was simply awesome. It's all on the iPlayer and is just about all I've listened to all week!

Not relevant to this thread, or this forum come to that, but Lou and I are going to see The Flaming Lips tomorrow at Jodrell Bank Radio Telescope. Not relevant but I'm so excited I had to share!

Ha ha! Sorry!
My son went to see them and has been raving ever since! It was the 'problem' that made me want to see a great, fun finish, I will be watching QotSA online more than once I can tell you! They were on here in Bournemouth this very week but I was away with work.

Watching a clown called Zanzibar climb to the top of an unsupported ladder and juggle three knives there

Flogging Molly, Bellowhead and the Kaiser Chiefs were my top gigs but there were many good ones.

Discovering interesting new artists: Bellowhead, Katzenjammer, Narasirato, Duane Eddy (new to me!), De Fuego, and Gabrielle Alpin

Had to google it. Looks awesome. It was a shame I never got to visit the SE fields this time. I tried on Saturday but the estimated queueing time was 60 minutes and I was already tired.

Worst bits: The mud and the rain on Friday, missing Pulp (gutted!)

Me too! I was misinformed that the secret guests on Saturday were Arctic Monkeys

I am insanely jealous of you!(it was a toss up for me this year between Glasto & the Flips at Jodrell Bank!) Hope you enjoy them as much as I have over the years-have a singalong to Yoshimi for me!

Talking
CW Stoneking is a remarkable act to see and hear. The Wall of Death in The Common was cool. Mini Da Minx in the Reverend Sharkeys played the best DJ set I've heard in years. And we danced the Hokey Kokey with the drag queens from the NYC Downlow at the Sensation Seekers stage.

I love it when I read highlights and they have random stuff like dancing the hokey cokey with drag queens, like there's nothing unusual about it. That's Glasto for you

Will do! I saw that they were doing this insane sounding gig and bought the tickets immediately. Then thought, "I wonder where Jodrell Bank is?" it's turned it into quite an expensive gig which, after last weekend we could do without, but hell, the Lips doing a gig at a radio telescope? Not missing that! I'll just cane the overtime for the rest of the year!! The irony is, they played a gig in London last night which was a 20 min bus ride from my flat!

Ok best bits for me was
1. Elbow Guy Garvey held the Crowd in his hands all set Day like this and Grounds for Divorce and the reverse Mexican wave was brilliant.
2. Warpaint on the Park Stage only heard a few of the songs before and was blown away with them, also the bassist is lovely
2 Stonefield: young Aussie band 3 sisters I think and a friend were unbelievably talented old Led Zep influenced band look out for them they are going to be huge.
3. QotSA : Wow that is the loudest I have ever heard the Other Stage PA every song was legendary I jumped around like a loon not.
4 Arcadia : Loved it up there got really close to the stage for the "Show" and I think I am in love with the Hoop swinging girl. Also Orbital set was amazing.
5. Radiohead: Not so secret set up at the Park. I heard about it the week before but wasn't allowed to say anything although txted a few twisto peeps on Friday Morning to get their asses up there. I got up there for Warpaint and B.A.D before so I was right at the Front. If you hadn't listen to or enjoyed King of Limbs then you wouldn't have enjoyed it but I thought it was brilliant.
6. Twisto and Tea party great seeing loads of twisto peeps and GW peeps there all dressed up apologies but my dress got ruined the night before in the downpour. Twisto was brilliant but think it got a bit taken over by Brothers PR machine. Free Tshirts and Cider was nice though.
Worst bits were :-
1. The rubbish left behind everywhere !!! I walked through the Pyramid Stage late Sunday/ Monday morning and it looked like a council tip. Feel very sorry for the litter pickers after that it was unbelievably selfish of people.
2. Wellie washers and hair washers !!!! Why !! Why !!! just fill a bottle up leave it outside your tent to warm up and wash there !!!! FFS
3. Over zealous security up at Shangra la etc pushed a mate over in the mud whilst queuing to get in covered her head to toe in mud and just laughed at her. We went back to tent.
4. NO2 twats......... it is not worth it for a 5-10 sec buzz would rather use a asthma pump and the mess up at the Stone Circle was terrible.
5. Flags !!!!!!! please just keep them at your tent or take them down during headliners !!!!

My wife came with me this year for the first time and I feared the worst when we unpacked the tent on Wednesday morning after camping out in the queue, and promptly got swamped in bloody rain.stopped when we got it up,For a while anyway. My main highlight of the festival was my wifes comment in the car as we got ready to leave on Monday. Her words not mine "The last time I was in this car on Tuesday I was Absoluteley terrified,Now I Don't want to leave." She had the time of her life and is now a convert.
The other highlights for me.Stone Circle Thursday morning. Viva La Vida ,Gaslight Anthem,Stornoway,Fleet Foxes,Elbow, Ohh bugger cant be bothered . ALL OF IT WAS GREAT, Even the mud, particularly as I managed to stay upright.Think the Strongbow helped there.
Roll on 2013, Bingley in sept next !!!!!l

It wasn’t a classic. I don’t think the muddy years ever can be. And I think this year will probably be the last one I do in a tent. I’ll be rapidly approaching the BIG 5-Oh! come 2013 and the thought of a comfortable bed in a cool van became very appealing this year, especially as it took us 7.5 hours to get home after a solitary hour of sleep on Sunday night. But as always the plusses massively outweighed the minuses:-

THE GOOD

La Tomatina – The most fun I’ve ever had with fruit in a non-sexual capacity.
Kool & The Gang – Nailed it on Sunday night for me.
Fish & Tits – An excellent find on Thursday night despite the Shangri La quagmire.
Jimmy Cliff – I had my annual boohoo moment when he did "Rivers of Babylon".
Care Bears – Hats off to my mate Shelly. Genius!
Sound of Rum – An accidental discovery in Leftfield.
The Church of Bono – How bonkers was that?!
Cee Lo Green – Opening with Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs”!!!
Strummerville – Lovely, warm & welcoming.
Omar Souleyman – Perfect in the sunshine.
The Wall of Death – I’ve seen this before elsewhere but it works so well at Glasto.
Sunday – & just being able to sit on the ground.
BB King – Surprisingly still sprightly and entertaining at 85.

THE BAD

Mud – And especially the yomp to get to John Peel on Friday
Paul Simon – Negotiating endless chairs, picnic rugs & cool boxes for a deeply unmoving performance.
Cider Bus – What have they done to their dry cider??? Awful!
Arcadia – A real damp squib in comparison to previous years.

THE UGLY

Security – My partner Lisa being shoved over by a moody meathead when she was only asking for directions!!
And finally the poor sod who broke his leg near the Avalon Inn. I heard the crack & the scream and it was horrible!

GOOD

first glasto and just arriving and seeing all the tents etc was epic
musical highlights - newton faulkner and his cassette at avalon
morrissey just because im a huge fan and he sang his flowery heart out
pendulum was an unexpected surprise
dan le sac vs scroobius pip at west dance ... great crowd ... rocked the place

loved the whole arcadia, block 9 shangria la area ... ive tried to explain it to people when i got home .. but its another world

leaving on sunday to go to a hotel, get a shower, something to eat, a cheap extremly cold pint, then returning to glasto to party on !

brothers cider .. first time drinking it and it was lovely even when slightly warm

BAD
agreeing to set up 5 tents for our friend because we were arriving early, it pissed down and i was in foul form
school boy error here ... forgot which carpark we were in on the sunday and walked 3 fields of cars before we found it, sun beating down, extremely tired, absolute nightmare
toilets were worse than i expected .. totally rank !

People

Meeting lots of interesting people from all over the world.
Meeting up with lots of the posters on here on Thursday-lovely people and nice to put names to faces.

Music
Matt Anderson (wed night-bourbon st)-singing "Ain't no Sunshine" put shivers down my spine and I sat there grinning like a loon for a good 5 minutes after his set.
2 Door Cinema Club, Vaccines and The Wombats-reminded me why I like a good 3 minute tune.
Elbow & Coldplay
Lots of other random acts on small stages that I never caught the name of but loved all the same.
Was never going anywhere near Beyonce-got dragged there and have to admit she played a blinder.

Bad bits
The total disregard some people have for the farm-clean your own crap up and at least try and find a bin-lazy gits

Our near neighbours in the West Campervan fields-what can only be described as a disfunctional family. I have never heard people argue so much in my whole life-they must have had a row every 10 minutes over things such as "wheres my hairbrush you wanker" to "why are your muddy boots not as clean as mine you ****".
It got to the point where most of us used to sit and have a drink and watch the entertainment. The father figure came out with one of the best lines ever to his 2 daughters (who were all shitfaced)-
"You know Mother is emotionally unstable when she has had a drink"!
