We are playing 5 sets at Glastonbury Festival and need to find an amazing African accent to "perform" a spoken word section of our song Undo. The spoken section starts the song off and then returns later to weave in and out of the sung words.
The section was originally spoken and recorded by a girl from a township in Cape Town, South Africa, although we'd be interested in hearing a range of African accents, male and female, of any age and from North, South, East and West Africa.
It is vital that the person already has a ticket to Glastonbury - unfortunately, performer tickets are in such short supply.
The song can be found on our website
www.theportraits.info - go to the Downloads section, select Undo, and if it asks you to enter a price, put 0.00.
If you are interested, email us at
funkymolepr@gmail.com with Portraits African vocalist in the subject line, and tell us a bit about yourself, what you do and where you are based. If you had a way of recording the text, however roughly, and emailing it to us as an attachment, that would be great as well.
Here is the text:
When we were eighteen
We exchanged our forevers
Promising our futures
And eternities
As fleeting gifts on a sunny afternoon
We never thought to add (pause)
I might erase you one day
.....
This is the box in which I live
Crammed with old loves, faded images,
the foundation stones of my life
And when I am gone, they will find in it
A complete portrait of me
It is real, it is honesty
.....
There is no undo
Change the names, the road signs
Rip up the history books
Paper over the cracks
.....
Pretend we are something we’re not
We can live through make-believe
But the past will never change
.....
So glance back, but face forward
Carry your history with a silent pride
For it made you you
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any pay, but we will share a fantastic time, drinks, and introduce you as our very special guest on stage. You’ll also have the accolade of having performed at Glastonbury Festival 2011!
Look forward to hearing from you!
