I had to remove my 2004, 2007, 2009 and my nice glow in the dark 2010 ones only the other day! Damn you heath and safety!
And yes it was still glowing!

Some people have reported their cars failing their MOTs due to the parking sticker being considered an obstruction.

we still have 2009 and 2010 stickers in the car, we are unsure if it will pass MOT with 2011's on or even if the car will be running in 2011 lol

Yeah and Nah, I don't think mine ever was. My 2007 one is running drastically thin so im fairly worried about it. I almost had to take them off before my economics exam as they thought they had definitions written on them but thankfully they saw sense I think I would have not sat the exam if they made me take em off.

mines still glowing..but faintly..if it lasts till spring may be a sign that I'll get a ticket in the resale?!
..by the way-the t shirt still glows in the dark & not removed the parking sticker tho the MOT is due next month-the holy exhaust, bald tyres and knackered indicators may be the things that fail it anyway..

Took my car sticker off but it took a while to get off the window.

I remember being in the Cabaret tent in 2000, and the guy on stage taking a show of hands on who had wristbands, and who'd come through the fence - it was about 50/50....
And I'm fairly sure we had wristbands in 1999, because I remember going for an interview on the Tuesday afterwards, and the white stripe on my wrist being commented on.

Still on, still glowin'
I dread the day i find a job where i'll have to cut all of mine off. Glasto one is slightly too small to take off, may just have to butter my entire hand.

It also depends on how much of a twat the MOT inspector is.
If it's directly behind the rear view mirror, then the mirror itself is obscuring much of the sticker, and considering it's position, what do they think it's obscuring your view of? Low flying aircraft? (Suppose this depends on model of car though).
My car once failed an MOT due to a GPS mounted on the window because it was an "obstruction". I demonstrated to the examiner that the only thing it obstructed my view of was the end of my bonnet and not the road, and therefore wasn't an issue, but he still failed it. He could easily have just removed it and passed the car, but the fucker failed it on that .

I am 100% sure there were no wristbands in 2000, or before, but am prepared to be proved wrong. My first Glasto was the 1978 impromptu festival and although I can't say I've been every year since then, there hasn't been too many I've missed. I certainly don't remember any wristbands before 2002, and thought they were introduced as part of the increased security after the debacle of 2000. I would be interested to hear other peoples opinions on this. Tort !!!!!!!!

There were definitely wristbands in 2000, though not many people seemed to have one that year for some reason
I tried a Google image search for one, but failed, though it did turn up an image of a Glasto 1984 wristband.

thanks for that ! Certainly don't remember them in 2000, for which I paid and was one of my sober years ! I'm on a mission to hunt mine down now, I must have it somewhere. Seeing the CND wristband does briing back some memories. That cider certainly does affect braincells

i didnt know until i read this thread that the wristbands glow in the dark! i didnt realise the tshirts from last year glow as well until about 2 weeks after the festival.
still got my 09 easy pass out band on, but cut last years off as soon as i got home as they were shitty old skool plastic things not nice fabric ones.

UPDATE it failed MOT because of bad exhaust, broken lights, indicator not self cancelling, wobbly wiper blade but not the Glasto sticker-the gods were shining on me-it stays on the windscreen for another year!

hi all, still got my 2008, 09 & 10 on my wrist. 3 years seems to be about the limit as they start getting really thin and tatty beyond that, be gutted to loose the 08 one as love the burgandy/blue colours and design, it seems to have kept it's colour better than the 09 & 10 bands as well.

I have all my old tickets since 1979 and all my old wrist bands stored away in a shed and I have the one in the image but not sure if they issued them before 1984.
My understanding was in the early years they were being issued to people arriving in cars as there was a scam going when a few jokers who were dressed as security were checking the tickets which they would run of with - at that time it was possible to drive into the event and camp beside your tent so tickets were handed in and everyone in the car would be issued with a wrist band so when we drove though the gate it was easy to check as we would be holding out our arms { just in case we tried to smuggle in a person without a ticket }
When I get time will have a hunt for them just in case I do have one from a previous year.
